ok not really but in the vein of this vahid thread
"i had a dream last night i found a detroit techno album i'd never heard before! it was called ... ok i forget already what it was called but the cover was a photo of the moonscape with a green filte

someone find me some mid-late 90s ny rap classic i havent heard, something in the vein of 'the war report' or some mobb deep or cormega or something, heavy on queensbridge mythos & an ny production ethos, maybe a grimey black & white mixtape or album cover, maybe something w/ nas verses never released on a major label or a launchpad for some major rappers' career, it should probably in some way have tragedy khadafi input or influence

Since people like me stopped rapping we have seen the emergence of overt homosexual hip hop, and you seem happy and gay for this, well I don't, if you like Kanye, Weezy, Drake, Minaj that's your prerogative, but build your castle of b s on your own gay back not on our masculine rap, Bob Marley sang "cant tell the woman from the man...cuz their mind is confused with confusion" so take your ambiguity and gtfoh, we do Genesis over here not Leviticus, you had a good run of the fingers times up...

basically ive been listening to a lot of bay dudes influenced by this sorta lyrical mystique from queensbridge (as yall may know -- jacka husalah etc all have this serious 80s crack era influence via 90s new york rapper styles ... cormega, early jay-z, raekwon, anything where the raps are intricate & dont spell themselves out immediately ... u could even fit camp lo in this i think??)

this is moving beyond queensbridge but man i cant get enough right now
heres an example ... rae's 'rainy dayz' remix that uses the same bassline as mobstyle's what's goin on black

thun from the TROY blog did a nice piece on late 90s rappers who were working w/in this abstract lyrical style
thetroyblog.com/2010/12/13/shabazz-palaces-re-mystifying-cool/

that got me checking for shabazz palaces (i know rev is into this stuff too)

but now we're way way off topic

Maybe this is kind of an obvious recommendation, but have you heard the two Screwball albums, Y2K and Loyalty? They're from 2000 and 2001, but the sound is more 90s... They have guest verses by Tragedy Khadafi, Noreaga, Capone, Cormega, Prodigy, Havoc, plus there's a Nas connection too — apparently Poet of Screwball was friends with Nas back in the day, he gets thanks on the Illmatic sleeve notes. Y2K especially is really good, and it even has a nice history lesson of Queensbridge rap ("You Love to Hear the Stories") featuring MC Shan.
