I like his stuff, but it hurts to listen to it for over fifteen min.!

yah he always has a high trebley mix and his vocals are alot louder than the musics but thats a serge thang.

I have really good headphones, I always put the volume at a proper place, but nevertheless, the trebled vocals cut into my brain!!!

I sometimes have a hard time with the sibilance too. Try listening on a pair of old speakers, it might help. If you have graphic EQ, I think a cut at 2k might do the trick.

If you think it's destroying your hearing, imagine what it's done to mine!

It's actually the 10k range that's really deadly, just turn any high end down if you can. Doesn't hurt my ears as much as the New Pornographers...at least only the vocals are knifelike. Do not attempt to play Momus records in a bar or nightclub, whatever you do!

I have always wanted to hear "Appalacia" in a bar. One with a mechanical bull or something.

Ashley Andel, Monday, 26 August 2002 05:36 (twenty-three years ago)

"Appalachia."
(does anybody ever read these correction notes? Do they really repair your dignity, or do they just make you seem petty?)

Ashley Andel, Monday, 26 August 2002 05:41 (twenty-three years ago)

I played "Appalachia" and the first chunk of "Folktronic" in a bar prior to a set by Jon Langford & The Sadies...seemed to go over okay but I had to turn it pretty far down to save people's ears and I think the words got lost. I work in a bar that gets its share of alt-country Robocowboys.
