Song Title Amnesia

Anybody else suffer from this? I never forget a face; I'm just not too good with names. Same with music. I can't tell you how many compilations/re-issues I've purchased thinking I was getting a bunch of new (to me) tracks, but ultimately find a bunch of reruns. (I can usually bail myself out by thinking "well hey, it's cool packaging" or "at least they're remastered" or "liner notes!") I'd like to think it's because I hear more music than ever before, or don't care so much about lyrics anymore. (Rather than the more plausible explanation: I just don't remember as well as I used to.)

Same here. For me, I tend to remember song titles from things I loved years ago but very few from more recently. There are a lot more of them, I guess.

I even make mixtapes (well, CDs) for friends, and they're all like "what were you thinking with that song about the serial killer"? and I'm all "wha?" I just don't have the time or patience to parse lyrics the way I used to.

This happens to me often and usually Google is shit at helping me with partial lyrics. It usually happens to me with songs from the past 10-20 years.
It also takes me a long time to find out what some newer songs are actually about because it seems like a lot of contemporary singers like to whisper/mumble their verses to set mood.
