dick van dyke vs. "the cat came back"

search (both here and google) turns up the information that dick van dyke's amazing version of "the cat came back" has been mentioned twice in the history of the internet, both times here, both times by me. lots and lots of people, mostly folk singers and children's singers, have done the song, but little fact checking cuz was both haunted and enchanted for many years by the dick van dyke version, which i found on one of my dad's LPs, perhaps a movie soundtrack, perhaps not. vintage 1960s. i long ago took possession of my dad's tiny collection of vinyl, but this particular one had already disappeared. and now my failure to find any record of the song anywhere in the world of 2011 has caused me to doubt my old memories and make me wonder if maybe if it wasn't dick van dyke after all. maybe it was someone else. and yet i'm sure in my heart it was him.

and so i ask you all: is anyone else aware of such a version of such a song? and if so, can you help me find it?

I like how we've reached the point where if it's not on slsk we just assume the only place the music probably ever played was in our heads.

i've got trust issues with my own memory anyway, so this is just a little more negative reinforcement! and, fwiw, i looked far beyond slsk.

So much detail in this...
