recording one pair of hands just sounds like SMACK SMACK SMACK

that's why you need a lot more than one. making the perfect flammy (but not too flammy) handclaps is an art imo.

I think, in the case of dance music from around 1980-81 through 1985-86, it's much harder to find stuff that does not utilize the synth handclap.

I like the handclap best when it's being limited to being played together with an electronic snaredrum and an electronic bassdrum on every 2nd and 4th beat and nowhere else though. :)
