for me, this is gonna come down to Mutilated Lips vs. Waving My Dick vs. Ocean Man, but I pretty much love every song on this album.

for the lols: blarney & pink eye (on my leg) - for some reason, the synth dog barks have me in hysterics every time.

Anyone who picks "The Blarney Stone" at a bar jukebox: I don't care for your jukebox pinking skills.

Voted Mutilated Lips but I basically like or love all of these (except "The Blarney Stone" and "Waving My Dick in the Wind").

Peter Pepsi (Abbbottt), Friday, 11 February 2011 19:10 (fourteen years ago)

"Pink Eye (On My Leg)" also deserves credit for being the song to interest me in Ween.

"Buckingham Green" vs title track

i know every word to this cd

"Polka Dot Tail" is a favorite, too. "Did you have to dry your eye/when you saw that puppy fly?"

"Billy!...."

the first track is kind of creepy, whatever they did to the vocal track dumps it into the same theatrical uncanny valley where clowns and ventriloquist dummies reside

ciderpress, Friday, 11 February 2011 19:29 (fourteen years ago)

these days, my favorite is probably "She wanted to leave"

peter in montreal, Friday, 11 February 2011 20:22 (fourteen years ago)

"Mutilated Lips", just edging out "Buckingham Green".

cwkiii, Friday, 11 February 2011 22:40 (fourteen years ago)

Is the cover supposed to be a vulva & c. or am I just a pervert?

Peter Pepsi (Abbbottt), Friday, 11 February 2011 22:51 (fourteen years ago)

It's a composite of like 20 different sea creatures!

Mr. Snrub, Saturday, 12 February 2011 01:24 (fourteen years ago)

This album is so great!

"IIIIIII CANNOOTTTT REEVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

I will probably regret having made this later but this is what I mean about the album cover (NSFW).

Peter Pepsi (Abbbottt), Saturday, 12 February 2011 04:13 (fourteen years ago)

whatever they did to the vocal track

I think it's just panning back and forth between a sped up vocal track and a slowed down one..

interestingly enough, it's based on the song below:

also, i'm not one to name-drop but i make an exception here. the older brother of one of my best friends from grade school was a co-owner of the recording studio where Ween recorded and mixed some of the songs on the mollusk.

basically just a 2/47 freak out (sic), Saturday, 12 February 2011 14:45 (fourteen years ago)

From the same public access show they also did "she wanted to leave" ..

There's a ton of really good tv performances from the mollusk.. and I'm pretty sure they purposely chose different songs for every appearance..

My favorite is still "mutilated lips" on oddville with the dancing bear.. soo fucking good.. I also recall "the golden eel" on viva variety being pretty great.

billstevejim, Saturday, 12 February 2011 19:08 (fourteen years ago)

"ocean man"

Darin, Saturday, 12 February 2011 19:18 (fourteen years ago)

Listened to this straight through four times last night...still can't pick a favorite.

old man yells at poop first thing in the morning (pixel farmer), Sunday, 13 February 2011 16:32 (fourteen years ago)

First Ween album I bought, always loved it but never fully understood why it's the most popular... Listening through now though, it's kind of faultless... anyone who's ever re-sequenced it is insane. Buckingham Green into Ocean Man is just great.

Morcheeba, simply happening. (PaulTMA), Sunday, 13 February 2011 18:52 (fourteen years ago)

Is Gene trying to be Scottish on She Wanted To Leave? He sounds more like a mixture of Partridge and Moulding instead.

Morcheeba, simply happening. (PaulTMA), Sunday, 13 February 2011 18:53 (fourteen years ago)

Ween get an A+ for sequencing.. I always find myself getting one of their songs stuck in my head.. let's say "Track 4," and then 10-15 minutes later I'll be wondering why "Track 8" is stuck in my head, and then it occurs to me that the entire album was subconsciously playing in my head without realizing it.

This happened a few weeks ago with "Baby Bitch" .. 10 minutes later I realized "Voodoo Lady" was stuck in my head, and it took me a few seconds to figure out why...

Dunno, a bit Jethro Tull too?

Don't wanna go OT but I just got the Live at Stubb's 3-disc set and holy cow these guys are amazing on stage. Even if you don't like the third disc (and I don't) it's essential!! I wish these guys would put out more live records...I wasn't crazy about Paintin the Town Brown as it was mostly bootleg quality and real choppy, but the other ones - Toronto, Chicago, Cat's Cradle, and of course Stubb's are all classic; I don't really listen to studio Ween that much anymore. Did you know Buckingham Green was played as far back as 1992? Imagine if they'd put that one on Pure Guava instead!

ok... that clip.
was that tv show invented for the sole purpose of having ween play a song. because that's how it looks.

is "buckingham green" some weird fleetwood mac reference? lindsey and peter? either way, that one. "summon the queen . . . spoke the child of eyes!"

one year passes...

ocean man dreadfully underrepresented here. it may be the catchiest 2-minute song ever written.

the more i listen to this album, the more perfect it seems.

frogbs, Wednesday, 6 February 2013 21:59 (twelve years ago)

one year passes...

2 votes for It's Gonna Be (Alright)? clearly the least dispensable song on the album.

those frozen pipe tapes are pretty cool too, though totally unproduced. got stuff like "did you see me" which sounds like it could have come off dave gilmour's first solo record.
