"But have you seen my records?"... The LCD Soundsystem 'Losing My Edge' POLL

nakhchivan, you are officially...

acoleuthic, Saturday, 12 February 2011 11:56 (fourteen years ago)

the extent to which yr vote acts as commentary upon ilxor's previous, necessarily inferior poll is up to you

itv digital manqué (nakhchivan), Saturday, 12 February 2011 11:59 (fourteen years ago)

oh I get it, the recycling is a conscious artistic gesture which validates your craft through vampiric absorption of the innocent former

I used to think this song was cool but it's actually not that cool.

billstevejim, Saturday, 12 February 2011 22:35 (fourteen years ago)

..which is the point, of course

henry s, Saturday, 12 February 2011 22:38 (fourteen years ago)

In terms of whose music I like best it's Faust or Juan Atkins, but in terms of whose inclusion in this list makes me happiest it's 10cc or Althea & Donna. Will prob vote 10cc as a compromise between the two.

cellular nekomata (a passing spacecadet), Saturday, 12 February 2011 22:49 (fourteen years ago)

I gotta vote Fania All-Stars just for the way they stick out from everything else.

that's not funny. (unperson), Saturday, 12 February 2011 22:56 (fourteen years ago)

index are fantastic but there is no way i'm not voting for section 25

miss pansy twist (electricsound), Saturday, 12 February 2011 22:58 (fourteen years ago)

Senor DingDong (Trayce), Sunday, 13 February 2011 07:05 (fourteen years ago)

Great poll. Hope it doesn't end with shit results like the one L0ui5 linked to.

Damn this thread seems so....different without ilxor (ilxor), Sunday, 13 February 2011 15:43 (fourteen years ago)

always vote royal trux.

the index album is wildly overrated imo.

not everything is a campfire (ian), Sunday, 13 February 2011 15:48 (fourteen years ago)

after listening to the index 50 times i kind of agree with you now, but when i first heard it at 19 during the first summer on my own, after moving to los angeles from north carolina, trying to stay in love with a girl who had broken my heart, it was glorious and will always have a very special place in my heart.

Captain Ahab, Sunday, 13 February 2011 18:05 (fourteen years ago)

all i know about the index is that a copy of their self-pressed album goes for about $3000 nowadays.

http://i56.tinypic.com/xnsu1g.gif (max arrrrrgh), Sunday, 13 February 2011 18:13 (fourteen years ago)

Aren't there like only two copies in existence?

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Sunday, 13 February 2011 18:39 (fourteen years ago)

challenge ilx to try & come up with a cooler list of bands w/o repeating any of thse

flopson, Sunday, 13 February 2011 18:43 (fourteen years ago)

I don't think that would be hard at all. This is a cool list of bands, but there are no shortage of amazing bands out there.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Sunday, 13 February 2011 18:45 (fourteen years ago)

so do it

Aren't there like only two copies in existence?

miss pansy twist (electricsound), Sunday, 13 February 2011 21:09 (fourteen years ago)

i just listened to that Index cover 4 times in a row. awesome.

circa1916, Sunday, 13 February 2011 21:22 (fourteen years ago)

Who are the Lower 48 btw?

I wondered that on the previous poll (have a CD by a not particularly interesting math-rock band of that name who surely post-date Losing My Edge) but this line is surely "Laurent Garnier", isn't it?

cellular nekomata (a passing spacecadet), Sunday, 13 February 2011 21:42 (fourteen years ago)

surely, surely, Shirley... I've never been so sure in my life!

cellular nekomata (a passing spacecadet), Sunday, 13 February 2011 21:42 (fourteen years ago)
