Duster - Stratosphere12 Rods - Split Personalities
I also really like:
Calexico - Black Light
Can't think of any others yet but wanted to share those.

I'm weirdly averse to the music of the 90s in general, but some I was listening to at the time (though maybe not all as albums) that I still like are:
Elivs Crespo - SuavamenteVictor Manuelle - IroniasCelia Cruz - Mi Vida Es CantarEddie Palmieri - El Rumbero del Piano
I can't think of any others, though I should probably remind myself of what that Alanis Morisette album I only heard for the first time last year sounded like. I'm also tempted to include the Lauryn Hill, but it's been years since I've listened to it, and I'm not sure how much I like it.

so Stevie D probably otm with 1997 being better (though there are plenty of good things listed here already)

Kruder & Dorfmeister - The K & D Sessions
Oh, I totally forgot about this! K&D Sessions was probably the album that me and my friends listened to the most in 1998... But I lost my copy at some point, and I haven't heard it in years. I wonder if it has aged well? Downtempo/digidub/blunted beats definitely was the soundtrack of the late 90s for me, alongside electro and Wu-Tang.

Shrink had the misfortune of being issued on the Zero Hour label, which crapped out shortly after this release. Seems like it fell below the radar and stayed there despite all of the attention that Neon Golden attracted a few years later.
