i don't know if anyone else on ILM likes Bibio but there wasn't a thread for him yet and the new record is sounding pretty fun on first listen. it's out at the end of March, and is floating around already for all you delinquents.

"Anything New" is my jam right now

ciderpress, Tuesday, 1 March 2011 01:04 (fourteen years ago)

Ambivalence Avenue ended up being a good backgroundy kinda album in my rotation.

one month passes...

What does "Take Off Your Shirt" remind me of? All I can think of is Phoenix meets QOTSA.

New album is nice.

Heard a bit of it. It was grabbing my attention before I realized what it was. Need to properly listen to it now for sure.

Evan, Monday, 13 May 2013 21:24 (twelve years ago)

Loving this. The production is odd but oddly right. A weird blurriness but crispness at the same time.*

Surprised there's not more love.

* Drunk. May try and be more articulate later.

It is nice, this.

djh, Thursday, 23 May 2013 19:43 (twelve years ago)

(Is the pre-Warp stuff good?)

djh, Friday, 24 May 2013 20:59 (twelve years ago)

I have some of his guitar only records that I love, but in case you didn't check it out go for ambivalence avenue

Evan, Saturday, 25 May 2013 00:01 (twelve years ago)

Though that isn't pre warp is it

Evan, Saturday, 25 May 2013 00:02 (twelve years ago)

New one didn't grab me on first listen, but I'm looking forward to spending time with it.

i, norbit (jaymc), Saturday, 25 May 2013 04:24 (twelve years ago)

new one is good, better than mind bokeh but still doesn't touch ambivalence ave

ciderpress, Saturday, 25 May 2013 04:50 (twelve years ago)

this one's more similar to his pre-warp stuff too other than "you" - all the woozy guitars+light beats

New one is worth multiple plays, Jaymc.

djh, Sunday, 2 June 2013 20:12 (twelve years ago)

Yeah, I'm warming up to it -- just played it last night!

This is one of my most overlooked albums this year. I keep forgetting about it, remember to put it on, and am constantly surprised, lol. And considering the activity of this thread, either I'm not alone or most just aren't into it?

Rod Steel (musicfanatic), Sunday, 10 November 2013 01:54 (eleven years ago)

It has a hazy, dreamlike quality that I love when I hear it done well.

Revived thread just to say "Silver Wilkinson" is very lovely indeed.

djh, Tuesday, 3 December 2013 09:40 (eleven years ago)

I've always dismissed Bibio as a cut rate Boards of Canada. Should probably give them a fair shot. Description of this album seems like my kind of music.

brotherlovesdub, Tuesday, 3 December 2013 13:34 (eleven years ago)

he's way more into guitars than BOC ever were even on campfire headphase

ciderpress, Tuesday, 3 December 2013 18:01 (eleven years ago)

i do love this album

Strangers look on with a discernible, barely contained ‘wow’. (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 3 December 2013 19:08 (eleven years ago)

x-post.

One of those albums that is better heard "by accident" or put on and forgotten about until that moment you realise you've been seduced rather than listened to with a hope of being impressed, if that makes sense. Not hugely BOC-ish, certainly not a copy.

Any interest in the new album?

didn't know, will check it out

ulysses, Thursday, 7 April 2016 07:05 (nine years ago)

it's okay

Has a nice warm 70's feel to both the production and the style. Nothing really stuck with me though, unlike Silver Wilkinson, which I love

octobeard, Thursday, 7 April 2016 09:06 (nine years ago)

I love it. Happy to see Olivier St. Louis as one of the vocalists too. That guy is cool.

"Feeling" came on my Discover Weekly recently, been jamming it ever since. Is that a There's a Riot Goin' On sample or just a sample that sounds a lot like Luv 'n Haight? Either way, I'm cool with it.

Ordered it, while enjoying the last album, under the influence of alcohol.

Anyone bothering with the new one? I barely played the one mentioned in the previous post.

This sounds quite nice:

Week of Wonders (Ross), Friday, 17 November 2017 03:15 (seven years ago)

album is nice but a little not so much there... kinda like the last floating points in some ways?

Chocolate-covered gummy bears? Not ruling those lil' guys out. (ulysses), Friday, 17 November 2017 17:36 (seven years ago)
