Which of these shows would you attend if you were in Philly in 1977?

I'm moving into a house and I pulled up an old carpet. Underneath it I found a Philadelphia Inquirer from 1977. The Arts section had a review of a new film called "Star Wars" and also listing for these shows (some in Jersey):

I was in Philly in 1977, and at the time I probably would have gone with either CSN or James Taylor (especially if I could have brought my little girlfriend along). A lot of the people on this list are just names to me, however. If I were to go back in time now, I'd probably pick Gordon Lightfoot, though I can't help wondering if ELP wouldn't be the most fine from a time-traveling perspective.

Re Star Wars: that might have been the first time in my life I knew in advance about a forthcoming anything (book, album, movie, etc.). I remember telling people about it before it came out. I think I had bought the comic book tie-in, which if I recall correctly had actually come out before the movie.

Well, all of them, obviously. But in hindsight I'd pick acts I've never seen & can no longer see, e.g. Teddy & John Martyn.

Seeing Emerson, Lake & Palmer at the Bijou Cafe would be funny.

Teddy or ELP, or John Martyn if I was feeling like having a low key night.

Aw... Couldn't you have found a newspaper with a Ramones or Zep date instead?

Boz Scaggs and Southside Johnny. Because you have to pick something that is of its time.

Put me down for the Pendergrass too!

John Martyn, no question.

The opening act for Cathy Chamberlain is interesting – Richard Belzer is/was an actor and, I believe, also stand-up comedian. He played Det. Munch in Homicide.

He still plays Det. Munch on Law & Order SVU to this day.

Voted for Van Ronk. But now that I think about it Doc was playing alongside his son Merle in those days. I don't think either act would have disappointed.

Van Ronk, as I haven't seen him.

(Have seen JMartyn, but hmm,, 1977? yeah....)
