I think this is a broad enough question to annoy you all with.

Christine "Green Leafy Dragon" Indigo (cindigo), Tuesday, 27 August 2002 23:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Anarchy in the UK

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Wednesday, 28 August 2002 03:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Sham 69 (I know, yawn)

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Wednesday, 28 August 2002 04:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I have to go with esoj on this one. I don't care if I ever hear "Anarchy In the UK" again during this lifetime.

"Into the Valley"

ANARCHY IN THE UK

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 28 August 2002 12:15 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm just going to say it I can't stand this song.

Bingo Masters Breakout

The Exploited. Or were they '80s? Oh who cares.

Nate Patrin, Wednesday, 28 August 2002 14:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes. "Anarchy," with "God Save the Queen" just barely spared.

mike a, Wednesday, 28 August 2002 14:53 (twenty-three years ago)

"Hurry Up Harry" by Sham 69. Punk for people who religiously watch TOTP2.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 28 August 2002 15:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I never liked the Stranglers myself, so if it's one act, them; if one track only, probably Peaches.

I still remember how astonishingly exciting Anarchy was when I first heard it. I forgive those early records almost anything, given the rock environment of the time. I'm old enough to have lived through the mid-70s, those pre-punk days when Lynyrd Skynyrd were about as exciting and energetic as rock got.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 28 August 2002 16:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Pick a Clash number. ANY Clash number.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 28 August 2002 18:55 (twenty-three years ago)

The Slits.

Motel Hell, Wednesday, 28 August 2002 19:02 (twenty-three years ago)

I always thought "Oh Bondage Up Yours" by X-Ray Spex was complete crap.

Joolz Fargo, Wednesday, 28 August 2002 19:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Patti Smith. About as 'punk' as Springsteen. Yuck.

Alex in NYC, Wednesday, 28 August 2002 19:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Note to the last four posters: you made go "ARGH"

Nate Patrin, Wednesday, 28 August 2002 19:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Good.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 28 August 2002 19:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, real good, only I'm just wondering why you picked the Clash and Patti Smith and the Slits and "Oh Bondage" and not oh say the boring stupid Vibrators. (Oh crap, now I've made someone else go "ARGH")

You know, these threads rarely turn into anything particularly good or worthwhile, do they? "THIS BAND IS POOP!" Well all right then.

Nate Patrin, Wednesday, 28 August 2002 19:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Patti Smith. About as 'punk' as Springsteen.

So?

Jody Beth Rosen, Wednesday, 28 August 2002 19:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah, because the Vibrators are fun and I'd rather listen to them than the Clash any old day. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 28 August 2002 19:30 (twenty-three years ago)

I hate fun. FUN SUCKS.

Nate Patrin, Wednesday, 28 August 2002 19:31 (twenty-three years ago)
