So, let us share our SLSK usernames so the file-sharing revolution can continue for another couple of months before the RIAA poos all over this utopian piracy paradise. Arrrrrrrrrrr.

dleone

But I warn you, I am notorious for downloading stuff, and then immediately burning it to keep my hard drive free of guilt.

dleone (dleone), Wednesday, 28 August 2002 16:01 (twenty-three years ago)

has anyone ever had a case of soulseek love? where you find someone with such an awesome collection, you start to dream, and picture yourself hanging out with them, listening to this great music, and then maybe you know...if things get serious, maybe marraige.

boxcubed (boxcubed), Wednesday, 28 August 2002 16:16 (twenty-three years ago)

soul seek love?

You're projecting again!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 28 August 2002 19:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Is there a particular reason for this thread Daver?

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 28 August 2002 19:41 (twenty-three years ago)

This thread allows soulseek/ILM people to identify each other whilst sharing files on Soulseek (it helps to know that you can browse another user's shared files). Since everybody on here has such grate taste, it will surely help those looking for good mp3z. I'm at work, but I'll be putting up my username on this thread later.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 28 August 2002 19:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Without wishing to sound like a grouchy old bastard, I wish people would stop posting Soulseek threads. The more people go on about it, the more popular it will get, and the quicker its RIAA-demise will be. Or isn't the odd thread on ILM likely to make much difference?

Enid Roach (Enid Roach), Wednesday, 28 August 2002 19:55 (twenty-three years ago)

i thought soulseek was dead. when i load it up, it asks me to select a server, and nothing is in the list, and then *poof* it closes. is there a new version i need download or something?

spencer, you are my hero.

joshd, Wednesday, 28 August 2002 20:51 (twenty-three years ago)

i found my spiritual twin on Soulseek the other night, and i'm scared to go back on it, lest my head implode. While he was too organized to mirror my mp3 collection, they were just too damned close to my own, down the stuff mistakenly believed to be personal quirks.

spencer500, but I'm on a positively urethric 56k. Still I highly recommend the Carl Faure mix of Quantic's "Life in the Rain"

the riaa website got hacked this morning.

Verison wireless is about to go toe to toe with the riaa in washington. things might be looking up, consumer electronics and telcom companies have a lot more money than the riaa to buy washington politicians with.

Verison wireless is about to go toe to toe with the riaa in washington.

actually, it's just verizon, not their wireless division; from reading an interview with their attorney in charge (here) i got the impression they're more worried about protecting their own asses from liability than their users. but it's a start.

on soulseek: rankingmonkey - i like to ban

Ned, yours is a funny username :-)

Um, okay. I'm not on Soulseek, so I'm a touch confused. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 29 August 2002 14:40 (twenty-three years ago)

okay, I am ninjkool.

Butttttttt...only 1 out of 10 users for some reason are able to download stuff from my computer (laptop connected to server, win 2K, ADSL..eh that's it). There seem to be others with this problem but the FAQ nor the board on slsk.org are of any help.
