we had a brief thread about her last year: Rye Rye

haven't heard this song...been so meh about most of her stuff that i haven't sought out the new mixtape yet or the songs that have leaked from her album tbh

some dude, Saturday, 19 March 2011 14:51 (fourteen years ago)

have never heard her but have always loved her hair. Now I love her music, too!

Sheneneh et Caro (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 19 March 2011 16:24 (fourteen years ago)

like, it is sort of my lifelong goal to someday achieve that level of sassy

Sheneneh et Caro (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 19 March 2011 16:26 (fourteen years ago)

Love Rye Rye, love this song. Check out Hardcore Girls, too, which might be linked on the other Rye Rye thread.

sounds more like nola bounce to me? in the same vein as bounce remixes anyway. like al i've never been taken with rye rye's stuff before and only really hear about her when m.i.a. hypes her up, but this is super-fun

lex pretend, Saturday, 19 March 2011 16:31 (fourteen years ago)

Haha StevieD otm. I fear my time for that kind of sassy has passed me, but I still strive.

it's very kid sister (though i prefer kid sister)

lex pretend, Saturday, 19 March 2011 16:32 (fourteen years ago)

"this is all so crazy" was always the most hilarious part to me

flopson, Saturday, 19 March 2011 16:38 (fourteen years ago)

i am the sassiest lad in america and i liked this when i listened to it

FUN FUN FUN FUN (gbx), Saturday, 19 March 2011 16:54 (fourteen years ago)

don't say things like that

Sheneneh et Caro (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 19 March 2011 16:56 (fourteen years ago)

you might get challenged to a sass-off

Sheneneh et Caro (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 19 March 2011 16:56 (fourteen years ago)

Would watch.

love it/her

ENBB, Saturday, 19 March 2011 17:59 (fourteen years ago)

i don't really hear any sass and maybe that's my problem with this stuff? delivery's very monotone, not a lot of personality or attitude imo.

some dude, Saturday, 19 March 2011 21:09 (fourteen years ago)

i love how the party in the usa video looks like it was filmed in a rehearsal room at morgan state or something

i rep for rye rye but I'm a biased baltimore resident

the tune is space, Saturday, 19 March 2011 21:20 (fourteen years ago)

there is something so, so fucking magnetic abt her doing all those crazy hyper moves with a huge ecstatic grin on her face

Sheneneh et Caro (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 19 March 2011 21:29 (fourteen years ago)

like i'm getting mad that she's not my best friend

Sheneneh et Caro (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 19 March 2011 21:29 (fourteen years ago)

genuinely curious why indie types gravitate towards rather anonymous female mcs like rye rye & the get em mamis & dominique young unique

blingee cummings (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 19 March 2011 21:31 (fourteen years ago)

i have a hard time thinking of G.E.M. as anonymous but that's partly because i know how hilarious they are irl. but i feel you, especially with Rye Rye being so much more celebrated than Blaq Starr, it's like if people all decided that the girl who did the hook on "Izzo" is so much more interesting than Kanye or something.

some dude, Saturday, 19 March 2011 21:38 (fourteen years ago)

this is the first i've thought about it but yes, i'm def more interested in that girl than kanye!

lex pretend, Sunday, 20 March 2011 04:51 (fourteen years ago)

that's because you're insane

some dude, Sunday, 20 March 2011 11:57 (fourteen years ago)

I was waiting for that exchange and it was better than I expected

ancient, but very sexy (DJP), Sunday, 20 March 2011 15:08 (fourteen years ago)

Also Rye Rye the live artist is anything but charisma-free; I was kind of taken aback by how effortlessly and joyfully she took over the stage when I saw her (I liked her more than M.I.A., who we were ostensibly there to see).

rye rye had a good single that I got via TSJ, can't remember what it's called though

this remix is dope too

dayo, Sunday, 20 March 2011 15:20 (fourteen years ago)

she is also really, really hot

dayo, Sunday, 20 March 2011 15:20 (fourteen years ago)

six years pass...

never forget this

Fluffy Saint-Bernard (Stevie D(eux)), Sunday, 9 April 2017 06:02 (eight years ago)

also belated side-eye @ j0rdan for referring to me as "indie types"
