I don't really know whats going on with hardcore industrial anymore so hopefully some people who are in the know can drop by and enlighten me.

I'll just start things off with something definitely NOT from 2011:

Algerian Goalkeeper, Saturday, 19 March 2011 07:14 (fourteen years ago)

oh and keep this one too

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 20 March 2011 18:51 (fourteen years ago)

def. keep this one so I have a place to talk about all the dodgy neofolk stuff I like.

Threadkiller General (Viceroy), Sunday, 20 March 2011 18:54 (fourteen years ago)

is all neofolk dodgy?

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 20 March 2011 22:48 (fourteen years ago)

No!

Threadkiller General (Viceroy), Sunday, 20 March 2011 22:48 (fourteen years ago)

Its hard to escape the taint though cause the scene is very incestuous and groups/artists end up tied to Death In June and stuff through collaborations.

Threadkiller General (Viceroy), Sunday, 20 March 2011 22:54 (fourteen years ago)

i though DiJ was the non-dodgy and it was Boyd Rice on his own was the ass

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 20 March 2011 22:56 (fourteen years ago)

I dunno, I thought Douglas P. was kinda sketchy and Tony Wakeford was a member of the BNP (but that was a long time ago and Wakeford has since apologized for being 'young and stupid'...)

some neofolk/post-industrial bands that AFAIK have never been associated with fascism/racism and/or vehemently denied any connections when asked:

- Der Bluthsarch
- Blood Axis
- Allerseelen

I'm sure there's more hah, that's just what I can think of off the top of my head.

Threadkiller General (Viceroy), Sunday, 20 March 2011 23:05 (fourteen years ago)

I like Waldteufel -- they haven't been associated with anything horrible, have they? I hope not.

Ralpharina (La Lechera), Sunday, 20 March 2011 23:17 (fourteen years ago)

I doubt it, they're named after a Jewish composer... but then again they have a tribute to Alfred Schuler on their website.

Threadkiller General (Viceroy), Sunday, 20 March 2011 23:24 (fourteen years ago)

Really there should be some sort of service that checks for fascism like turnitin checks for plagiarism.

Ralpharina (La Lechera), Sunday, 20 March 2011 23:30 (fourteen years ago)

haha I know!

Threadkiller General (Viceroy), Sunday, 20 March 2011 23:34 (fourteen years ago)

why i generally steared clear of this and BM. I still thoroughly check BM for it but this stuff is so hard to find out about

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 20 March 2011 23:50 (fourteen years ago)

i mean, like turnitin, this fascism finder wouldn't be perfect, but it would be better than the naked eye and less frustrating/time consuming than hours of fruitless googling-with-suspicion

this is the Lords of Chaos guy's group right? I have a pretty ltd knowledge of this subgenre but I thought that both that band and him as an individual catch tons of heat

I only use this style of type when I choose it (DJ Mencap), Sunday, 20 March 2011 23:59 (fourteen years ago)

I've been mildly curious about this stuff for a while now. always been a big c93/coil/lpd guy, never dug too much further, have been discouraged by how the nazi thing always pops up. I do really like the album I have by the pre-Blutharsch band The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath a Cloud, though, and I bought an Of the Wand and the Moon cd yesterday.

Is there enough of an openly fascist contingent of fans of this kind of thing that bands are starting to hide it less, with the small mercy being that it makes it easier to distinguish which is which?

I asked about that new Cult of Youth LP in rolling goth/etc and no one replied, so: any thoughts? I like the clips I heard. Are they false neofolk? Is that good or bad?

CharlieS, Monday, 21 March 2011 00:05 (fourteen years ago)

according to the most valid source on Earth:

Moynihan has repeatedly denied political ties.[41][42] In response to the various political accusations leveled against him, Moynihan calls the Far right "a bunch of isolated losers" and further that:

Whether they're the Marxist/Communist/Socialist people who think that humans want to get along on a grand scale, or whether it's the Nazis, who think that if everyone was just of the same race, they'd all get along perfectly, or the anarchists, who think everyone would love to live this way if you just took away the police.

They're all deluded. People should worry about what happens on their block. They should get along with their neighbors before they worry about the great ills of society and about telling someone who lives 200 miles away what to do.[4]

The guy is just a contrarian and shit-stirrer. Unlike, say, Boyd Rice, who readily admits to being a fascist.

Threadkiller General (Viceroy), Monday, 21 March 2011 00:07 (fourteen years ago)

Generally I am willing to take a band or artists word at face value unless shown good evidence of else-wise. And I think, CharlieS, that fortunately (or unfortunately) the NS/fascist sub-group does feel emboldened enough these days to not mask it so I think when you get bands defending themselves these days they are probably more genuine than not.

I'll have to check out Cult of Youth I'm afraid I'm not familiar with them.

Threadkiller General (Viceroy), Monday, 21 March 2011 00:12 (fourteen years ago)

dusted had CoY do their Listed thing last week; the guy pointed out a few cool looking things- http://dustedmagazine.com/features/969

CharlieS, Monday, 21 March 2011 00:19 (fourteen years ago)

the new front line assembly album was surprisingly good. As was the last Young Gods.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 21 March 2011 00:20 (fourteen years ago)

Anyone know what's up with the Current 93 US tour? Seems to have been rererescheduled?

Ralpharina (La Lechera), Monday, 21 March 2011 00:25 (fourteen years ago)

uh

I have a lot to say abt this as someone who used to be on the old World Serpent listserv in the early 90's, but I think I can boil it down:

DIJ were kicked off of the label for being unrepentant fascists
Blood Axis/Moynihan as far as I know are pretty seriously fucked up

however I am very much looking forward to the early Laibach box set coming out in April.

also thanks for moving this thread from that ridiculously stupid sub-board.

sleeve, Monday, 21 March 2011 01:05 (fourteen years ago)

let it go

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 21 March 2011 01:06 (fourteen years ago)

haha I didn't post about it at all! Just thought it was a bad idea like 99% of the other posters on ILX. And I am happy to kick your dumb idea when it's down, so let it go yourself.

sleeve, Monday, 21 March 2011 01:11 (fourteen years ago)

that's why i was talking young gods/FLA on here instead of going over old ground

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 21 March 2011 03:28 (fourteen years ago)

I knew blood axis were always a bit dodgy, people into this kinda music avoided them like the plague, but still liked DiJ.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 21 March 2011 03:29 (fourteen years ago)

I guess I didn't. :( Still love their track on the Looking for Europe comp though...

Threadkiller General (Viceroy), Monday, 21 March 2011 03:56 (fourteen years ago)

which is actually a good resource for finding neofolk bands which aren't dodgy at all that I had forgotten about like:

- Darkwood
- In Gowan Ring
- Ordo Equitum Solis

Threadkiller General (Viceroy), Monday, 21 March 2011 04:15 (fourteen years ago)

yeah I remember the WSD statement at the time about DIJ being kicked off for (among other things) "political reasons". AFAIK they never elaborated which was kind of a shame. either they knew something the rest of us didn't about Douglas P's political views, or they fell into the standard trap of assuming he was a fascist based on the publicly available evidence (which has never imho been enough to denounce the guy)

Moynihan on the other hand has been unrepentant in the past, there was an interview in Compulsion magazine in which he said "I have no problem with being called a fascist"

ban this sick stunt (anagram), Monday, 21 March 2011 05:16 (fourteen years ago)

also worth mentioning in this thread: Somewhere In Europe. they were friends with Douglas P and worked with him on some early DIJ records but also put out three of their own records which are really excellent, long out of print now though

ban this sick stunt (anagram), Monday, 21 March 2011 05:18 (fourteen years ago)

Im pretty sure i read an interview with that guy when the film? came out. He pretty much said the same thing.

xp

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 21 March 2011 05:19 (fourteen years ago)

I love In Gowan Ring so much, what a great band. Clearly it wasn't all B'Eirth's creativity because the Birch Book CD left me prety cold. It sucks that those CDs are out of print because of the WS collapse. They probably belong over on folk-psych-drone though, not very noisy.

sleeve, Monday, 21 March 2011 05:52 (fourteen years ago)

i remember viceroy made me listen to a track, it was horrible, heh

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 21 March 2011 14:42 (fourteen years ago)

seven months pass...

okay okay okay, on saturday Elon from White Car DJed this party i promote/work at, and he played this track with the chorus "SEX...FOR....MONEY!! SEX... FOR MONEY!!!" and i knew i'd heard it before, knew some of the lyrics even, but i can't find out anything about it and it is driving me fucking crazy please help.
