Jammed a few tracks from their Never, Neverland album this morning.
The opener was a pretty irritating song called "Welcome to the Fun Palace" that sounded like (and forgive the analogy here, but this is what was going on) a B-grade Bruce Dickenson imitator fronting a group of C-grade Megadeth imitators. Was the whole trope of "funhouse/carnival as house of horrors/analogy for mental imbalance" as overused in the late 80s as it is today? Because boy, there are few things as trite.
The next two songs were pretty decent, chugging thrash - for some reason the guitar playing took a huge leap in quality over Fun Palace. Track 4 is called Stonewall, which I had sort of been hoping meant that they were gay, but looking up the lyrics just it seems to be about ecological destruction, which is actually one of my favorite lyrical themes if done right, but "Stonewall"? Anyway, I'll be interested to listen to the rest of the album later.
