After participating in Capital Swamp: The DC Resource Thread before/during/after a recent visit, I decided that I was jealous and wanted a similar thread for where I live. Because I live here. And maybe others here do as well. And another group of people might visit sometimes! So this can be a place to discuss local bands, national shows coming through, record stores and other minutiae pertaining to music lovers in and around town.
A Philly roll call would be nice, just to get the ball rolling:
I am Brian and I live in Upper Darby after living for a few years in a scary neighborhood in East Germantown. I am a transplant; my time here is as of now almost 4 years.
My favorite music is metal. My favorite cheesesteak is at Jim's on South Street. Yuengling is the best cheap beer on the planet and I love living ion a place where I can order it just by asking for a lager.
Some Philly bands/musicians I like include The Roots, Dead Milkmen, Stinking Lizaveta, Bloodhound Gang, Santigold, Kurt Vile and The Goats ("Tricks Of The Shade").

idk - I went on a search for them a while ago, you will never see a philly thread with as much action as the chicago thread, for example. I guess it fits into our city spirit of being perennial underdogs tho

Next show for me: The Laether Strip, whose only East Coast show is at Shampoo on Wednesday. Need to take the wife dancing (I rescued her from a life in an Ohio Gothic Industrial bar)...
TickMaster tickets are $21.50 with their fees but only $10 at Dancing Ferret.
