haha i thought you were just exaggerating about the beat being similar but yeah half the song is lines from "I'm Not A Star"...that's actually one of the 3 Ross songs ever that i really fuck with, though, so i think that's kinda dope, even if it seems totally arbitrary and bizarre for Wayne to do as a single.

"guerilla warfare" is pretty good, the others not so much unless you're a cash money fan. i would settle for a weezy/mannie/juve collabo, though the others are good in their own right. but yeah 6 foot 7 foot is one of his best recent releases, hope he continues in that direction

he's (obviously) still a far cry away from when he was GREAT but he seems to be rapping w/ more purpose & focus now -- that's a big vague but more specifically it seems like he's at least temporarily dropped a lot of his bad habits (i.e. laughing at his own jokes) (though not all i.e. grocery bagging, excessive "the earth is a girl" metaphors) -- also for the time being at least he's not doing gross 'pop' stuff like the i'm not a human being/young money stuff that immediately preceded his sentence -- seems like he wants to go back to street shit a bit & i dig that

I wouldn't have problems with him doing a pop joint or two if they were more "Lollipop" and less "Bedrock".

i'm kinda interested in the way he's now dropped 2 straight up rap singles (whereas w/ C3 he dropped "Lollipop" and "A Milli" simultaneously), i'm assuming he does have some shameless crossover single coming before the album drops but i have no idea whether it'll be a predictable R&B singer(or Drake)-assisted AutoTune extravaganza or something else entirely.

other than the "real G's move in silence like lasagna" slow burner I can't say he's done any rapping I care about at all post-prison, though, he has dropped some annoying tics but he's hardly back to pre-C3 level.

Yeah, I pretty much appreciate him coming out with two rappin'-ass rap songs right away even if I think one of them sucks.

Well in the case of Gaga< I think a lot of the shock comes from the fact that it looks like a bad photoshop job. But maybe bad photoshop jobs are in character for Gaga...

for real, not generally a big Tech N9ne fan but his verse on this album is one of the only good things about it. I sorta liked John when it dropped but already can't remember anything about it beyond it being an inferior remake of I'm Not a Star

I liked "Blunt Blowin."

The first several songs on this album are actually pretty good, mixtape-caliber Wayne. But then the curious guests, high concepts and genre experiments come in and it's all over.

Kinda forget how much I liked "John," though. A perfect love letter to the idea of Rick Ross.

also had to get past wayne fumbling w/ a guitar while wearing jeggings during that song at the vmas

as far as unworthy blockbuster rap albums go, you could do a lot worse than carter 4. it's more bland and overly familiar than outright bad.

Yeah. It had some songs but was mostly bland and uninspired. I don't know why everybody hates How To Love though. That's a pretty good song.

The singles are almost all better than I remember them, and there were a fair amount of them, so by that measure the album did what it set out to do

Also forgot about that closing track where Bun B, Busta and Nas all kind of kill it, but Wayne never shows up and it's just as well

i grew to appreciate "How To Love" over time, as much as i wanted to dismiss it outright

yep, I had that exact same thought. It made me appreciate this even more. If you had asked me couple of years ago I would have said the chances of Wayne actually growing old w a certain sense of dignity were close to zero. But here we are.
