hi Julio,

per Jimi's guitar in Zappa's basement. i didn't realize that another of Jimi's guitar's went for a million - you are so right, i can't imagine HOW much dosh Dweezil et al will receive for this new discovery.

it really irritated me that Dweezil made the comment (paraphrasing) "2 of the greatest guitarists that ever lived played this instrument"...sorry, but i don't believe that Frank Zappa is in the same league as Jimi in the "axe-crobatics" department. Zappa fancied himself a composer...yeah, i know, whereas Jimi found a niche and gave us some of the greatest classic rock ever recorded, maan!

have you heard Zappa's 'Guitar' (a 2 CD set of Zappa's solos). The guy was a brilliant guitarist (OK so i can't talk abt technique, maybe sundar could say something here or any other guitarists on ILM could) but the arrangeemnts on that rec are pretty poor (why not just zappa and a drummer, that would have been great).

Hendrix was better, he wrote great songs and was really onto something with 'Electric ladyland'.

Zappa got Jimi's burned guitar repaired and used it on three of his solo BTW.

''it really irritated me that Dweezil made the comment (paraphrasing) "2 of the greatest guitarists that ever lived played this instrument"...''

well, wouldn't pay much attention to him saying that as he has money to make.
