Coxon leaving Blur + Radio 1 scrapping the Evening Session = The onset of the Indie Apocalypse!

Yet another alterno-indie Radio 1 venture comes a-crashing to the ground while Peel just carries on into infinity. Has the time come to maybe put the old boy out to pasture? In these confused post-everything times, his programme does not serve the same purpose/have the same impact it perhaps did a decade and a half or so ago. Or has he become more like some kind of untouchable BBC version of the Queen Mother and cannot be axed?

Wow the Beeb is scrapping the Evening Session? I'm surprised...well maybe not, i suppose the rationale is that "hey, they've got 6music now, bring on the techno from the E.S. timeslot".

Bugger all chance of that though... I suspect it will still be broadly 'alternative' in its nature.

But it's the BBC (pblic service broadcasting) so no chance of that.
