Someone here must know more about this than me, since I only know what I've discovered quite recently. Inspired by reading about the Acid Rumba compilation coming out (but being pretty annoyed it's one of those vinyl-only releases of a few hundred copies--like they don't want this music going to just anyone): http://www.amoeba.com/blog/2011/03/los-angeles-me/acid-rumba-spanish-gypsy-grooves-1969-1976-.html

am i allowed to post balearic disco?

I like this first Carmen song, but can't decide if it sounds that much like the Acid Rumba stuff. The second one sounds more like some kind of Anglo-prog.

I don't mind so much, but aren't there already a million balearic disco threads?

nah, i didn't really want to turn it into that, just wanted to post this song

I would've responded better to Al Stewart.

Wait, so nobody's posted any Santa Esmeralda videos yet?

The '60s Spanish beat group Los Brincos had some flamenco guitar in songs ("Flamenco," "Cry").

First thing that crossed my mind when reading flamenco rock was the Kill Bill soundtrack. 'Malagueña Salerosa' and 'Please Don't Let me be Misunderstood' certainly fit the bill.

One of the things I particularly like in Morena y Clara is the way their vocals interlock, and the overall effect of their vocal sound, which has some edge without being as indigestible to my ears as purist flamenco vocals generally are. (I should maybe say that I've been hoping to find a way into flamenco now that I am living in the U.S. flamenco capital. I always liked the guitar, and last time I listened to some live flamenco, I found myself a lot more drawn to the rhythms. It's a matter of somehow getting hold of the vocals, or allowing them to get hold of me. Not that I am listening to this flamenco rock primarily in hopes that it will lead elsewhere! I think it's good in it's own right.)

Also, Acid Rumba is now findable.

I don't get the point of this video, but I like Dolores Vargas's vocals too:

Another highlight of the Acid Rumba compilation (though sound is pretty muddy on this youtube version):
