and, even though i probably sound like the most broken of records, utech is definitely my favorite label in all these fucking 50 states right now.
― scott seward, Wednesday, 6 April 2011 02:26 (fourteen years ago)
shit, nobody will care about this here. no! someone must. right? man, you really should. this is here and now heavy and dark excitement and fine art in this country. this is happening NOW. and i truly hate most now.

I've enjoyed some Utech releases. Haven't followed them for a few years though, since apparently I thought it was a jazz/improv label? Rempis Percussion Quartet is great, but now that I think about it, that was like 4 years ago?! What have I missed?

you've missed a lot!

gog/william fowler collins collaboration album is my most anticipated album of 2011.

I've seen Locrian 2x now and they were kind of boring live, but seemed to be the sort of band I would enjoy if I didn't have to watch them pretending to make themselves vom on stage (sorry). I like the vibe, though, and wanted to like them more than I did. Perhaps I would enjoy their recordings more than the live show. The addition of the female vocalist and drummer was a huge leap forward, though, that much is for sure.

i've never seen them live. love them on record.
― scott seward, Wednesday, 6 April 2011 02:47 (fourteen years ago)
definitely love the new album.
This is a totally different Utech records than the one I remember. Same name, same location though. ?? Still, I trust you, and I will listen to gog if you say it's good.

oh man gog so good.
― scott seward, Wednesday, 6 April 2011 02:49 (fourteen years ago)

WF Collins is in this really great group that also includes Elise Baldwin, and two other people whose names escape me.

This sounds awesome! I've played the hell out of the boxed set I got a couple of months back.
Best release on the label is still the Vagusnerve album.

my memory of Utech records is kind of tied up with Ken Vandermark and a house show in Milwaukee at which I took this picture:http://www.workseries.com/images/musician/Musician5.jpg
it doesn't seem like that long ago, but i guess it was.
― Ralpharina (La Lechera), Wednesday, 6 April 2011 03:06 (fourteen years ago)
