wait why is he whispering

fat fat fat fat Usher (DJP), Thursday, 7 April 2011 22:52 (fourteen years ago)

okay now I think I understand why my Scottish co-worker was so in love with Seahorses, if these were the other options at hand

If I'm reading the video info right, Peter Hook actually co-produced the Love Will Tear Us Apart cover. I kind of admire how that guy has absolutely no reverence at all for the music he made when he was younger.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 7 April 2011 23:00 (fourteen years ago)

Wow. Didn't spot that. There is pretty much nothing that this man won't do to ensure his legacy remains intact

OH RICHEY, WHY. (PaulTMA), Thursday, 7 April 2011 23:03 (fourteen years ago)

did you mean "intact" or "in tatters"

Mike Love vs. Peter Hook poll, anyone?

taking the mound: (rip van wanko), Thursday, 7 April 2011 23:13 (fourteen years ago)

who decided it would be a good idea to name a charity "CRUK"

I mean, it reads like a phonetic rendition of a death rattle

Haha Dan.

lively and fuiud (Pashmina), Thursday, 7 April 2011 23:19 (fourteen years ago)

These are both terrible! can not choose one over the other.

I initially assumed it was for an anti-domestic violence organisation. I suppose it's OK to make fun of it now

OH RICHEY, WHY. (PaulTMA), Thursday, 7 April 2011 23:20 (fourteen years ago)

I don't know, "I'd Like To Teach..." is just a little sad and boring whereas that rendition of "Love Will Tear Us Apart" is almost "Friday"-level in terms of sheer ineptitude re: making sensible artistic choices for a song

xp: I'm not making fun of what they do! I just think the name is terrible.

fat fat fat fat Usher (DJP), Thursday, 7 April 2011 23:22 (fourteen years ago)

I used to know one of the blokes in No Way Sis. They are terrible though. I was dragged to see The Complete Stone Roses while very drunk a few years ago, they were entertaining enough, but I'd rather have just been in the pub listening to the actual Stone Roses on the jukebox. There is NO reason why either of them should have a recording career.

I actually do, too. Irk the purists, it's a right good laff, as Sartre once sang.

I feel like the No Way Sis effort sounds a lot more like Oasis than the Complete Stone Roses one sounds like The Stone Roses. Which I guess would be a very good reason to go for the former.

Hongroe (Geir Hongro), Friday, 8 April 2011 11:41 (fourteen years ago)

Possibly, but (can't listen to them as yet), a reason to go for the latter is that maybe the 'complete' Ian Brown can sing?

Hooky and Boony haven't exactly helped matters by overdubbing their ill-fitting trademark sounds

OH RICHEY, WHY. (PaulTMA), Friday, 8 April 2011 16:03 (fourteen years ago)

I see Clint Boon is in trouble...

Mark G, Friday, 8 April 2011 16:05 (fourteen years ago)

He apparently told people via Twit that Ian and John met recently at Mani's Mum's funeral, and posited that "who knows, it'd be great if they did (reform the SR's)"

At which Mani somewhat pointedly denounced the 'chatter' at a private occasion.

Mark G, Friday, 8 April 2011 16:09 (fourteen years ago)

lol until Geir explicitly named it, I was completely spacing on the No Way Sis/Oasis connection

I think this means I have finally successfully forgotten Oasis! ^_^ at least until this thread ;_;
