both are awesome records, on an even playing field i'd say Bruce but at the moment i'm gonna throw my support behind Meat

This is as good a place as any to bring up this story which I think I've recounted several other places, but never ILM:

In my high school, there was this kid named Daniel who I'm pretty sure was mentally well but had all the social graces of a cinder block. Anyway, one of the teachers suffered a miscarriage after already having two other children. When she returned from medical leave, he gave her a sympathy card, a white rose and a 45rpm single of Meat Loaf's "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad."

That story is one for the ages.

Good poll, two great records. Went with Bruce.

Jesus that story. Having read Chris Ware's latest Acme Novelty Library today as well it feels like the perfect weird addendum.

Anyway, Meat Loaf, in that I like the Broadway version of Bruce better than Bruce.

haha that story omg

Well...Bruce

Trip Maker, Saturday, 9 April 2011 03:51 (fourteen years ago)

That's an amazing story. I was going to ask if you went to high school with Charlie Sheen, but you say his name was Daniel.

You sure about this?

van smack, Saturday, 9 April 2011 04:00 (fourteen years ago)

If anything, he was probably a bit Aspie.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 9 April 2011 04:16 (fourteen years ago)

That story was the highlight of my evening. Thanks for sharing

Still thinking about that story.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 9 April 2011 14:39 (fourteen years ago)

That story almost redeems Meat Loaf's existence for me. Almost.

I hate both these albums, but the loathing towards the Loaf is a tiny bit stronger.

Bat Out of Hell for me, easy.

Simon H. Shit (Simon H.), Saturday, 9 April 2011 17:04 (fourteen years ago)

I've honestly never gotten Bruce. Bat out of Hell also.

Bagel A-Go-Go (wgdaniel), Saturday, 9 April 2011 17:36 (fourteen years ago)

The thing these records have in common is The Arcade Fire have based their entire career on them.

We make bouquets that fade immediately. (Turangalila), Saturday, 9 April 2011 18:30 (fourteen years ago)

I like bat outta hell fine but consider voting for it over born to run the granddaddy of CHALLENGING OPINIONS - steinman on his best day can't write a better lyric than you'd find a springsteen b-side

five gone cats from Boston (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Saturday, 9 April 2011 18:38 (fourteen years ago)

I feel like the 'born to run' lyrics would look better if it weren't for the fact that the albums that followed it were about 100x more mature.

iatee, Saturday, 9 April 2011 18:43 (fourteen years ago)

like if after the album was released, springsteen died in a freak car accident while fleeing from his troubles in an old chevy on a dark jersey turnpike, I might like the album more. instead he just made better albums.

iatee, Saturday, 9 April 2011 18:43 (fourteen years ago)

I'm not sure they were *better* so much as different. Born to Run def. sounds like the work of a young person but there's something interesting in that.

Mark, Saturday, 9 April 2011 19:05 (fourteen years ago)

I love that story. I want to see it on an episode of House.
