Not heard the new one, guess I'll vote for one of the 1st three, been ages since I played them. How is the latest album?

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 10 April 2011 19:03 (fourteen years ago)

. . . you listen to Bright Eyes homie?

markers, Sunday, 10 April 2011 19:06 (fourteen years ago)

i haven't heard all of these all the way through, but i'm going to vote for wide awake

markers, Sunday, 10 April 2011 19:06 (fourteen years ago)

Digital Ash, just ahead of Wide Awake. All of the ones before that were too rambling and inconsistent, and the ones afterwards just not very interesting.

if, Sunday, 10 April 2011 19:07 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, they're definitely both up there -- "easy/lucky/free" is such a great album closer

i liked the 1st 3 albums , markers. Does that surprise you?

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 10 April 2011 19:41 (fourteen years ago)

yeah it does, but that's good!

markers, Sunday, 10 April 2011 19:44 (fourteen years ago)

(good that you like those records)

markers, Sunday, 10 April 2011 19:44 (fourteen years ago)

Of the ones I've heard Cassedega, which isn't even half as good as the 2008 Conor Oberst record.

Hey Look More Than Five Years Has Passed And You Have A C (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 10 April 2011 20:48 (fourteen years ago)

i like the self-titled a lot

markers, Sunday, 10 April 2011 20:50 (fourteen years ago)

fevers and mirrors is the only one I ever liked, so that is the only one I will vote for.

akm, Sunday, 10 April 2011 22:35 (fourteen years ago)

I'm split between I'm Wide Awake and Lifted.

Mordy, Sunday, 10 April 2011 22:38 (fourteen years ago)

The first solo album is the best. Of the Bright Eyes records, it's probably the new one.

kornrulez6969, Sunday, 10 April 2011 22:45 (fourteen years ago)

really?

Algerian Goalkeeper, Sunday, 10 April 2011 23:05 (fourteen years ago)

letting off the happiness. one of the most well recorded albums i've ever heard. the drum sound is huge and every song is completely different.

the latest album sux0rs

jumpskins, Sunday, 10 April 2011 23:44 (fourteen years ago)

split opinion!

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 11 April 2011 01:26 (fourteen years ago)

The shortest one

Beggar On A Beach Of Shite. (PaulTMA), Monday, 11 April 2011 01:37 (fourteen years ago)

AG listens to Bright Eyes?!

one man's skeevy gas station = another man's supermarket (Drugs A. Money), Monday, 11 April 2011 02:05 (fourteen years ago)

i used to, i quite liked commander venus too. Why does that surprise everyone?

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 11 April 2011 02:06 (fourteen years ago)

why indeed

We're just so lost as a buzzosphere (rip van wanko), Monday, 11 April 2011 02:08 (fourteen years ago)

it's not like ive never mentioned it before

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 11 April 2011 14:18 (fourteen years ago)

ilxor knew, he's a big fan. He even offered to copy me a load of live bootlegs he bought years ago.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 11 April 2011 18:35 (fourteen years ago)

'lifted' is one of the best albums of the 00s tbh

górecki's zygotic mynci (c sharp major), Monday, 11 April 2011 18:36 (fourteen years ago)

Lifted is probably the one I return to the most, but I feel like I'm Wide Awake and Cassadaga both have their charms (the latter more for what it set up with the self-titled Oberst stuff). The new one has grown on me quite a bit.

'what are you, the Hymen Protection League of America?' (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Monday, 11 April 2011 18:39 (fourteen years ago)

ilxor says he's a huge fan of the solo record

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 11 April 2011 19:13 (fourteen years ago)

Lifted, but I'd vote for Desaparecidos easy if this was a conor-career thread

da croupier, Monday, 11 April 2011 19:23 (fourteen years ago)

yeah that was a really good album

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 11 April 2011 19:35 (fourteen years ago)

Conor Oberst solo vs Desaparecidos vs Bright Eyes Vs Commander Venus

Spuggie (Minnie The Minx), Tuesday, 12 April 2011 00:04 (fourteen years ago)

can't tell who will win this but I'm guessing it wont be the first or last albums

Spuggie (Minnie The Minx), Tuesday, 12 April 2011 13:50 (fourteen years ago)

My real answer is his four songs off the Oh Holy Fools split LP, but that's not on here so I'll have to decide between Letting Off the Happiness and I'm Wide Awake...

erasingclouds, Tuesday, 12 April 2011 15:39 (fourteen years ago)

not heard that split lp

Algerian Goalkeeper, Tuesday, 12 April 2011 17:39 (fourteen years ago)

ilxor said to tell you those songs are great

Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 13 April 2011 00:07 (fourteen years ago)

lmao

markers, Wednesday, 13 April 2011 00:29 (fourteen years ago)

Voted for Letting Off, mostly cos I like the "Pull My Hair" song the most. I really really like "False Advertising" off "Lifted" but some of the other songs haven't aged that well for me. "I'm Wide Awake" is how i got into that, and some of those tracks -particularly "Lua" - never fail to kill me.

Telephoneface (Adam Bruneau), Wednesday, 13 April 2011 03:54 (fourteen years ago)

i need to listen to these albums again

Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 13 April 2011 12:50 (fourteen years ago)

decided on fevers

Algerian Goalkeeper, Wednesday, 13 April 2011 23:50 (fourteen years ago)

I used to love that Desaparecidos album.

His voice wasn't quite as annoying and wobbly.

He should revisit that format

Jessie Fer Ark (Mobbed Up Ping Pong Psychos), Thursday, 14 April 2011 21:04 (fourteen years ago)

maybe they will eventually record another

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Friday, 15 April 2011 00:26 (fourteen years ago)

Maybe we will feast on turds on a stick

Beggar On A Beach Of Shite. (PaulTMA), Friday, 15 April 2011 02:55 (fourteen years ago)

perhaps

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Friday, 15 April 2011 23:37 (fourteen years ago)

i use to be a huge fan and my vote and introduction was Lifted or. i went on these long walks at night and needed over an hour so that CD was perfect. haven't heard it in years but with songs like "Bowl of Oranges," "Lover I Don't Have to Love," "Waste of Paint" and "Method Acting." i think it's great. need to play this again and see how it holds up.

Bee OK, Saturday, 16 April 2011 01:05 (fourteen years ago)

I'm Wide Awake It's Morning was my fave album of the decade (and thus, obviously, gets my vote). Lifted is deserving of its reputation, though, and Digital Ash has some great moments. Cassadega is quite underestimated.

Wish I liked the new one more.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Sunday, 17 April 2011 23:01 (fourteen years ago)

i predict a very low turnout for this one. under 20 votes

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Monday, 18 April 2011 16:50 (fourteen years ago)

I too voted for F&M. Haligh, haligh, I love that song..

Did someone bus in c0rny indie fux0rs to vote in this poll?

That's why they call me (Johnny Fever), Monday, 18 April 2011 23:03 (fourteen years ago)

Conor Oberst IS corny indie fux0r, face it

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Monday, 18 April 2011 23:06 (fourteen years ago)

Oh yeah, I was just remarking at the number of votes in total.

That's why they call me (Johnny Fever), Monday, 18 April 2011 23:09 (fourteen years ago)

64 people voted in a Bright Eyes album poll. In 2011. On ILM.

I'm going back to my bubble now.

indie rules

markers, Monday, 18 April 2011 23:10 (fourteen years ago)

Lots of indie does rule. Conor Oberst is a fuckwad who does not rule.

markers, Monday, 18 April 2011 23:13 (fourteen years ago)

johnny i thought you were a c0rny indie fuxx0r tho?

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Monday, 18 April 2011 23:45 (fourteen years ago)

Do I enjoy some things that would be classified indie rock? Sure. Am I choosy and tend to view artists like Oberst and Death Cab and Rilo Kiley and so on unfavorably? Damn right I do.

That's why they call me (Johnny Fever), Monday, 18 April 2011 23:49 (fourteen years ago)

choosy moms choose jif
