I had no idea Bathysphere was so well love by Smog fans. When the album came out I wasn't crazy about the song, but I like it alright now. For me It's Rough was the song that really affected me. Prince Alone in the Studio is probably second for me.

this album has a special (& maybe a bit creepy) spot reserved in my brain. vacillating between Prince, Be Hit, & Bathysphere. also feeling a little bad about having no need for another Smog album despite relative quality.

Why on earth is "Doctor" rated so low on your rankings? That's one of my alltime faves (nb: I'm not a big Smog fan).

Doctor Came at Dawn sits along side Red Apples Falls and Wild for me as Smog's Best. His newer albums kind of lost me after Supper.

Doctor never really grabbed me for some reason! I do still like it, just a "lesser favorite" (11th place!). I tend to lean toward the lower-voice, higher-production value Bill; seems to just carry a weight that really nails me. (Though, Red Apple Falls has a nostalgic feeling for me; first one I heard/time-in-my-life kinda thing).

And a brilliant line at it xp

(not about it bein yr favorite obviously but "Eagle," "Dongs," and "Knock Knock" and probably "Red Apple Falls" are better)

"knock knock" is one of those albums where it seems like stans sort of underrate it a little and non-stans overrate a little, maybe? i mean it's totally great but it's place as his "poppiest" album steers the bigger fans away from it somehow. maybe it's a gateway drug, i dunno.

It's a good album though, if it was a persons first album I could understand why they chose it much like me with red apple falls
