DESTROY - his completist Chicago LP collection
SEARCH - web skillz, nice guy levelheadedness, complete lack of shame

gygax!, Thursday, 29 August 2002 20:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Aw shucks, fellas.

paul cox, Thursday, 29 August 2002 20:08 (twenty-three years ago)

hstencil, Thursday, 29 August 2002 20:10 (twenty-three years ago)

and he's really tall according to those in the know!!!

*swoons*

gygax!, Thursday, 29 August 2002 20:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Also, Scurvy = "couch rock" progenitors -> surely clssc? BUT - what would Theodore Adorno think?

Shaky Mo Collier, Thursday, 29 August 2002 20:13 (twenty-three years ago)

porn star name has to count for something too

gygax!, Thursday, 29 August 2002 20:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Scurvy vs. Bad Astronauts - FITE!

Robin Wageman to thread!!!!

(btw, I really like Paul's non-rockist anti-album stance lately)

hstencil, Thursday, 29 August 2002 20:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Fuck rockism, I say! The only reason people demand full album packaging and the standard 10 or 12 songs is because they're conditioned to want those things. I'd be happier if songs were released one of two at a time, while they're still fresh and free of unnecessary filler.

HAVE IT!

paul cox, Thursday, 29 August 2002 20:20 (twenty-three years ago)

You're so sexy when you're controversial, Paul.

Seriously.

hstencil, Thursday, 29 August 2002 20:23 (twenty-three years ago)

when was the dawn of AOR? '66?

perhaps the death of the RIAA can be attributed to the collapse of the singles market... people don't want to buy a full album for the one or two songs they want so they are seeking alternatives... now that singles are a dead format in the USA, downloading becomes more attractive.

paul's a singles guy... there's no shame in that. the singles format rules.

gygax!, Thursday, 29 August 2002 20:27 (twenty-three years ago)

A former Drag City employee once told me that Broadcast were "a singles band."

Happy Mondays to thread!

former Laura Superchunk groupie - do tell!

surely classic. tireless bulletin board poster who unlike most is without a doubt getting better with each subsequent post. i think in 2003 we should see the peak of paul cox's posting career. my advance order is in already.

i'm also looking forward to the day when i can dine out on telling the tale about how i used to hang out at the rubwhen it was only getting 100 hits a day.

where to begin with paulie? fmbber I've hung out with in person the most, took me to see stereolab, and I didn't even have to put out.. spent new years 1999-2000 with him and my ladyfriend.

made me want to get my own useless web page to imitate him, now I have a useless blog too, just like him!

spec bebop, Thursday, 29 August 2002 20:58 (twenty-three years ago)

stirmonster, Thursday, 29 August 2002 21:00 (twenty-three years ago)

paul cox, Thursday, 29 August 2002 21:02 (twenty-three years ago)

most of my friends actually.. its kinda sad.

I feel bad, cos I want to hang out with my friends but they're all "we're not gettin any" and I kinda sit quietly and try not to intrude...

spec bebop, Thursday, 29 August 2002 21:28 (twenty-three years ago)

i was actually going to say 'getting yr band together'.

stirmonster, Thursday, 29 August 2002 21:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh yeah, well that too. You wanna get something cooking while Mount Florida's on the shelf?

paul cox, Thursday, 29 August 2002 23:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Just 'cause you're from Florida and he's in a band with a similar name doesn't mean...

OR DOES IT?!?!?

I'm confused.

hstencil, Thursday, 29 August 2002 23:25 (twenty-three years ago)
