desaparecidos hands down

read music speak spanish is the best record he's been involved with

barbara of seville (electricsound), Tuesday, 12 April 2011 00:14 (fourteen years ago)

OTM. Do you think they will ever make another album?

Spuggie (Minnie The Minx), Tuesday, 12 April 2011 13:49 (fourteen years ago)

Listening to RM/SS now. Still love it.

A second one, Payola, was planned right after the first, but it sounded like Oberst and Denver Dalley decided to follow their own muses instead. Though wikipedia says they did a reunion show in Omaha in 2010!

da croupier, Tuesday, 12 April 2011 13:54 (fourteen years ago)

Desaparecidos is obviously the best thing he's ever done, I just wish there was more of it.

I'd rank 'em:
Desaparecidos
Bright Eyes
Conor Oberst
Commander Venus

(If he had released a few more albums with the Mystic Valley Band, I think that may have climbed up into second place.)

I know there are plenty of hollery politicalish bands out there right now, but they all seem to err on the Springsteen-bravado side of things compared to desaparecidos, which feels more like pinkerton+politics to me

da croupier, Tuesday, 12 April 2011 14:02 (fourteen years ago)

Though it would be unsurprising if Conor got more "tramps like us, baby we're born to die" if Desaparecidos made more albums

da croupier, Tuesday, 12 April 2011 14:03 (fourteen years ago)

ilxor says Desaparecidos. But when he was an emo kid he loved Commander Venus.

BUMP^

Been listening to this album again recently. Remains great. The anger generated by suited cunts smarmy deals

I am only 44 yrs old. And have been a reluctant suited cunt for half of them years.

Can any of you kids recommend me anything similar please?

My lineage is Du, Rites of Spring and so on. I have heard At the Drive In, Thursday , Knapsack and loads more of that E stuff. But this baby rules.

I thought "Lua" was a lovely song but.

Oh Fuck.
I'm 67 now.

I'll get to the crunch and exaggerate to make a point.

Desaparecidos album is up there with the best in that genre. Bright Eyes don't do it for me as much

I was seeking some recommendations .

Have a great Easter

heated debate over derpy hooves (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 1 August 2012 20:25 (thirteen years ago)

listened to both songs, sounds like they signed to vagrant in 2004

da croupier, Wednesday, 1 August 2012 20:31 (thirteen years ago)

Trying to decide if that is an insult or a compliment, I liked some of what Vagrant was doing back then.

heated debate over derpy hooves (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 1 August 2012 20:33 (thirteen years ago)

well i don't know if it "sucks" or "rocks" yet, only heard it once

da croupier, Wednesday, 1 August 2012 20:37 (thirteen years ago)
