Lil Wayne S&D

I've liked some of what I've heard — mostly the spare, stripped down tracks, and I have a weird affection for Milli — and thought some of the other stuff was pretty bullshit — rap rock for serious? — and I've got no real need for whole albums. Recommend me some Lil Wayne essential tracks (maybe there's something on that rap rock album that's awesome), let me know if there are any mixtapes or anything else unofficial that I should be looking for, and really just help me not get bogged down in the catalogue of a guy who seems to drop albums like cats drop kittens.

Don't sell yourself short, get Tha Carter II... go ahead and throw Tha Carter in there too. I prefer either of those to any of his mixtapes, although there was a 2-3 week spell a couple years back where all I listened to was Da Drought 3.

they were reporting that he was dying and in a coma and there were people standing around crying over his shaking body and he was getting read his last rights, while he friends were saying he was fine, not sure whats more right about that

right. well i think it's pretty possible that at some point it seemed like he was near death even if he's currently "fine"

the thing is these conflicting reports were coming out m/l simultaneously, its not like hours later someone tweeted hes fine nbd the tmz story went up then one of wayne dudes was like nuuuh while tmz was describing the scene of crying and last rites

wayne has been having seizures for months and has been slowly killing himself with drugs for years and his friends have insisted that he's "fine" so i guess i put as much stock in their word as other people do in tmz's

Seizures are strange beasts. They can kill you if they last long enough, because they can stop your breathing or induce a heart afibrillation. Other than that, they might leave you relatively unharmed and fine afterward.

once you have been read the last rites you have to die, iirc. otherwise it is like reneging on your side of the deal, like you have wasted the priest's time & exercised his gravitas without just cause & you are basically spitting in god's face.

i thought last rites basically exonerated you from all previous sins; thus wayne is without sin and positioned to lead us to salvation

For people comatose and unable to take Communion the Catholic Church has a thing called Anointing of the Sick* or Unction/Extreme Unction which is part of Last Rites but not the full thing. If Wayne was in a medically induced coma it's unlikely he took Communion. That TMZ deleted the tweet makes it more likely nothing of the sort happened and they have a bad source.

*I had that as Anointing of the Dick there for a second

j0rd has a point in that when he first had seizures months ago, his spokespeople issued statements that it was just a lil dehydration nothing to worry about etc., then when wayne was doing interviews later he said he was on seizure meds, so yeah i think it's pretty reasonable to assume his camp is downplaying the situation, regardless of what the truth is.

"Moment" off the Young Money album is pretty cool, at some point last year he stopped sucking, liked the mixtape and a good amount of recent guest verses

Lee on the Beats has the fake-Mike Will Made-It sound down pretty good too

Album has fewer good songs than last year's Rich Gang album tho which is quite the accomplishment
