I'm not a Wilco fanatic in any way but they are in my top 15 bands according to the last.fm charts. (Should I blame my playlists?)
Similar cases?

Emeralds and Oneohtrix are in my top five last.fm. Only cos I tend to fall asleep with their music on repeat but TBH I'm not even into either band that much.

Ween and Scooter both appear in my top 5 on last.fm. I understand the Ween, they have a ton of songs and fit a bunch of different moods, but I dunno why Scooter is in there, except maybe that I listened to all their albums like 3-4 times and they have a TON of them. Of course the "classics" have like 20-25 plays apiece so I guess that's where it comes from.

actually made the effort some months back to sift through my last.fm and delete all artists that i've listened to obsessively and yet owned, like, 3 songs. morrissey is one of those - i have 52 plays for the dude and they're all for the song "suedehead".
same for yo la tengo - can't even name one album from the band, name a member, nor even really tell you what part of the 90s these guys were from. i just really like "the summer" and "from a motel 6". but anyways - deleted those guys. last think i want is somebody asking me irl or last.fm what i'd recommend from a band and me seriously wondering where the hell they came to the conclusion that i was an authority on them.

i dunno why but deleting stuff from your last.fm seems kind of dishonest
i actually wanted to delete my radiohead plays because it makes absolutely no good recommendations based on that, plus it double counted nearly everything for whatever reason, but what's the point

Yeah, the same thoughts ran thru my head but I really want to use last.fm as a tool to recommend me music... not ~portray~ myself to others. There are loads of things I can see others would find embarassing to have scrobbled so much on their profiles (animal collective is in something like my top 5) but b/c I'm v familiar with them and liked them at one point I choose to retain them.
I really view it less dishonest than resetting your profile - and the number of dudes I've deleted only comes up to be about 6 or so, just artists whom I listened to to insane magnitudes but have little idea about them or their other music(altered image's "don't talk to me about love" is one of them).

Milo; I used to leave "In my Arms" on repeat and it wasn't until I saw it was a good 200 plays ahead of my next most listened to song that I became concerned.

Mylo not Milo obviously.
