From late August 1991 to late May 1992

By then, singles had started staying #1 for longer periods of time (much to my dismay).

En Vogue

It's between Shanice, VW and En Vogue for me, but I'll probably swing VW. "Save the Best for Last" is eternally sappy and great.

oh tough call but on the other hand Shanice - I Love Your Poll

Those are pretty much my top three as well, actually. That VW achieves some kind of... ideal? It can't be denied.

Very ballad-heavy times it looks like. Also, it's no wonder old man journos were declaring rock "dead" at the time. That's the most un-rocking span of chart toppers I know of (though I'm sure other years have similar runs).

Wait a minute: neither Shanice nor "Remember The Time" hit #1 on the American Hot 100 singles chart.

That Shanice should have, dammit!

This is the exact moment when Scott Woods and I started our fanzine Radio On--four or five of these were on the first list of songs we rated. I would have voted for Vanessa Williams (gave it a 7.0, I think) or Bryan Adams (8.0) at the time; today, probably "Black or White." I used to despise the En Vogue song. I just checked, and now I just disapprove.

I was just kicking myself for voting for "Good Vibrations" over "Save the Best for Last" in the second poll. (I voted "Emotions" in the original poll and I stand by that).

I had to vote I Adore Mi Amour; it was threatening to take up permanent space in my brain if I didn't
