By what twist of fate with Lemmy agree to appear in the video, btw? (I mean, aside from the fact that it's awesome and he is attracted to awesome things wherever they might be...)

Oh man

Where are the Breakfast Club "Right On Track" and Kajagoogoo "Too Shy" threads so I can wallow in nostalgia fully

Dreaded Burrito Gang (DJP), Sunday, 1 May 2011 23:50 (fourteen years ago)

Wait what? Lemmy is in this video? That is bizarre and awesome. I had no idea.

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Sunday, 1 May 2011 23:55 (fourteen years ago)

As far as Lemmy, I'm guessing some connection to the Maison Rouge studios that this guy ran at the time. Maybe something like this - he was good friends with Twisted Sister during their late 70s/early 80s sojourn in London, and they recorded Under The Blade at Maison Rouge.

And the song and video are classic. I'd love for Die Antwoord to cover this.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 2 May 2011 00:01 (fourteen years ago)

The synth bass on this is awesome.

Didn't Madonna say this was her favorite single of 1986?

Would support this, along with The Escape Club "Wild Wild West"

mispelt eylixor (Schlafsack), Monday, 2 May 2011 00:39 (fourteen years ago)

My favorite fact about the band is they recorded a song called "The Cure."

xp: yeah, the Escape Club definitely belongs in the discussion.

Agreeing with this SO HARD.

Leopard on the Cheetos Bag (MintIce), Monday, 2 May 2011 00:41 (fourteen years ago)

Oh lol WWW came on the radio when I was driving a couple weeks ago and I may have rocked out a little. Esp to the break it down part.

I think in my head I associate this song with "Mexican Radio" for some reason.

\(^o\) (/o^)/ (ENBB), Monday, 2 May 2011 00:42 (fourteen years ago)

Is there a specific genre name for all this?

Boys Don't Cry is EPIC btw, just to be clear. "His name is Ted... can you believe that?"

mispelt eylixor (Schlafsack), Monday, 2 May 2011 00:43 (fourteen years ago)

the genre is "Awesome Eighties"

EZ Snappin, Monday, 2 May 2011 00:45 (fourteen years ago)

What's Lars Ulrich doing in there? This song was a highlight of my 2nd or 3rd grade or whatever. Really glad I never saw that video though.

Riding on the range
I've got my hat ... ... ... on

mispelt eylixor (Schlafsack), Monday, 2 May 2011 00:59 (fourteen years ago)

This is definitely in my Top Ten list of favorite songs of all time.

"Ted!! One Ted! Fighting all danger!!"

"Ohhhh yippee! Yippee-yo-yo!"

Mr. Snrub, Monday, 2 May 2011 01:00 (fourteen years ago)

Out on the horizon
I see a puff of smoke
Indians on the warpath
(Indian voice) White man speak-em with forked tongue.
...or not

Smoke-em peace pipe.

I actually link this song in my mind with "Let's Go All The Way," so that's why I started the thread for this one (I imagine I'd probably recorded them both from the radio onto the same cassette or something.)

Isn't there a thread somewhere that we proclaim the greatness of the "Right on Track" video at length?

Johnny Fever, Monday, 2 May 2011 01:30 (fourteen years ago)

Man, the extended version of "Right On Track" is one of the greatest pieces of eighties pop ever recorded.

My mom is all about capital gains tax butthurtedness (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 2 May 2011 01:31 (fourteen years ago)

What's Lars Ulrich doing in there?

He looks like a cross between Lars and Roger Taylor from Queen.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 2 May 2011 01:31 (fourteen years ago)

lol Dan actually started this thread: Breakfast Club - "Right On Track"

Johnny Fever, Monday, 2 May 2011 01:35 (fourteen years ago)

and I keep reviving it!

LOL, you're right

wk, Monday, 2 May 2011 04:25 (fourteen years ago)

My nostalgia only goes so far.

more horses after the main event (Eazy), Monday, 2 May 2011 05:29 (fourteen years ago)

Even if you've never heard this song before today, I don't understand how anyone couldn't love it.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 2 May 2011 05:31 (fourteen years ago)

Dead on the inside plus also possibly from Uranus

Dreaded Burrito Gang (DJP), Monday, 2 May 2011 12:10 (fourteen years ago)

The odd thing about this thread is that I distinctly remember having Right On Track, Too Shy, I Wanna Be A Cowboy and Let's Go All The Way recorded all on the same mixtape at one time.

Leopard on the Cheetos Bag (MintIce), Monday, 2 May 2011 19:34 (fourteen years ago)

I bet Tarzan Boy was on that mix as well

Dreaded Burrito Gang (DJP), Monday, 2 May 2011 20:03 (fourteen years ago)

Yes, Tarzan Boy should be included in this conversation by all means.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 2 May 2011 20:06 (fourteen years ago)

I am debating whether Jane Child fits into this at all or not.

Dreaded Burrito Gang (DJP), Monday, 2 May 2011 20:07 (fourteen years ago)

Jane Child is too late.

ginny thomas and tonic (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 2 May 2011 20:10 (fourteen years ago)

but I'll substitute Jane Wieldin's "Rush Hour."

ginny thomas and tonic (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 2 May 2011 20:10 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, that makes sense (re: Jane Child is too late)

I don't think I'd ever heard "Rush Hour" before now.

Oh wait, just got to the chorus, I remember this now.

Dreaded Burrito Gang (DJP), Monday, 2 May 2011 20:13 (fourteen years ago)

Total classic. I still own the original single that I bought when it was new (and I was definitely old enough to know better).

Nate Carson, Monday, 2 May 2011 20:14 (fourteen years ago)

I think I'd actually be a booster for The System's "Don't Disturb This Groove" inclusion here over Jane (poor Jane)

Dreaded Burrito Gang (DJP), Monday, 2 May 2011 20:16 (fourteen years ago)

Nate, you were old enough to know awesome. This is awesome.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 2 May 2011 20:17 (fourteen years ago)

yes yes yes yes yes!
