Gerard Cosloy's continual feud with Tony Brummel is really the only reason I know what a Victory Records is. Brummel is a real piece of shit.

That particular Atreyu song and album were pretty good - metalcore with enough brains to steal Scorpions riffs. They went way downhill after that, though.

all of these other bands are pretty shitty tho

in the past they've put out a few decent records here and there, but generally this is the worst label ever

i have never liked anything on victory, to the point of bailing on iceburn, deadguy and electric frankenstein records due to label associations

otoh, in retrospect i was stupid and would like to have that deadguy record

"Right Side of the Bed" is a genuinely good song. The only one of Atreyu's that I'll defend. That band had promise, but as Phil said, they pretty much threw it away.

my only comment is that i don't know what label they were on but i had to see Hatebreed open for Slayer once and it was the worst experience of my life

none of the victory label bands are metal in any real way, no? this stuff is just modern day radio friendly alt-rock that sells to teenage girls who buy Kerrang or Revolver. nothing wrong with that per se and I can see why the alt-rock/pop sensibilities might appeal to the goons.

They have actual metal bands on their roster - Otep, I'd say Emmure (deathcore is metal), Destropy, Carnifex, Within the Ruins, and they just signed old-schoolers Jungle Rot for some reason.

Jungle Rot are like The Thing of death metal - they always find a new label to host them & they keep making a new record

i don't know anything about this label's music but they used to be (like 4-5 years ago) constantly advertising jobs in the chicago reader that all sounded kind of sketchy and terrible

i don't think i've ever listened to a victory record? decibel dudes love that deadguy album. i would buy that i guess if i saw it for a dollar somewhere. i just got one of those early earth crisis albums in at the store, but i doubt i'll play it.

i was into boysetsfire when i was a teenager, that's about it. the matchbook ep is probably still awesome but that was out on magic bullet i think.

A Day To Remember freed from their Victory contract, awarded $4 million in unpaid royalties.

Never heard of the band, probably not my thing, but good for them. Victory are scumbags.

I spent a week with them in the UK for an Alternative Press cover story, a few years ago. They're nice enough guys. Glad to see them get out from under this shit.
