Just bought this and it's mostly fantastic! I'm especially taken with tracks 9 through 14, but know nothing about the artists. Also The Harlequin Fours track is excellent - a skeletal house chassis developing into an ESG (yes, them again) vibe.

Anyway folks, pls tell me something about the more, ahem, up-to-date tracks/artists.

Tracklist below :

1. We - Maurice Fulton presents Boof
2. You're God - Ana Rago (I:Cube Remix)
3. Ciquri - Material (Discomix)

March Of General - Nigo (Chicken Lips Conquest Dub) -- the guy from the ´a bathing ape´ designerclothes.

Anti Social Tendencies - Parallax Corporation --- think it´s the same guys as I-F (space invaders....)

Still Hott 4 U - Bobby O ---- bobby orlando who produced the first pet shop boys single along with the flirts, the barbi and the kens, lime etc

House of Jealous Lovers - The Rapture -- i think you find a lot on them if you search ILM

Money B - Flying Lizards --- one of the best groups ever.

Random Factor - Broken Mirror ---- eighties-themed pop-minded micro-(not micro)-house from Playhouse. There's another mix of this on their Famous When Dead compilation.

Metro Area ---- Fantastic disco revivalists, and Andy seems to like them too.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 1 September 2002 21:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Nath sob sob when am I going to get that copy you promised me? :-(

Maurice Fulton fucks up house with filters, but think Felix da Housecat / Green Velvet rather than any squelchy French business.

Random Factor is Carl Finlow, Yorkshire-based Back to Basics favourite. Usually puts his stuff out on Ralph Lawson's 20:20 Vision label. Good shiat.

Also The Harlequin Fours track is excellent - a skeletal house chassis developing into an ESG (yes, them again) vibe.

The original of Set It Off (male vox) was by Strafe, released a year prior ('84, I think?). Both are equally great.

Is Harlequin Fours 1985 then, wow!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Monday, 2 September 2002 11:35 (twenty-two years ago)

9. The Sky Is Not Crying - Tiny Trendies - adam goldstone from new york

10. To Our Disco Friends - Smith 'N Hack - berlin maestros MMM

11. Tunnel Music - Zongamin - flesh records disko king

nineteen years pass...

19 years on, still my all-time favourite mix. I dunno wtf that says about me tbh.

Yep this is an amazing mix - covers so much ground without feeling self-consciously eclectic, and in retrospect it feels like a skeleton key to a lot of the dance music trends that dominated in the years that followed: electroclash, punk-funk, disco revivalism, balearic etc. I could easily imagine basically the same mix being released on (say) Eskimo maybe 2 or 3 years later.

Also "The Sky Is Not Crying" forms a great emotional centre to the mix. One of my favourite house tracks.

No Communication, No Love - Charles Schillings (Salt City Orchestra Mix)

Salt City Orchestra and their remixes in particular deserve more love..

Ironically, it's actually not the Salt City mix that's on this but the superior Street Corner Symphony mix.

It's actually erroneously listed as the Salt City mix rather than the Street Corner mix on some editions of this, fwiw, so the misunderstanding is out there already.

yeah got it from the OP

agreed not their most interesting remix
Sex-O-Sonique “Thought It Was You” and Underworld “Cups” remixes are absolute classics though

brimstead, Friday, 29 October 2021 18:43 (three years ago)

It's great for about as long as Trevor lets it play but it is truly great for those three minutes.
