i'm looking for 80s & 90s synth sounds from Africa. i know tons of it exists, but it's tough to find. i really dug these 2 tapes from Awesome Tapes From Africa:
http://awesometapesfromafrica.blogspot.com/2010/04/penny-penny-shaka-bundu-side-1.html
http://awesometapesfromafrica.blogspot.com/2007/10/ata-kak-obaa-sima-side-obaa-sima-moma.html
and of course that shangaan electro compilation was great. i found a few shangaan/tsonga disco tracks from artists like Paul Ndlovu, Peta Teanet, etc... but are there really no comps featuring this kind of stuff?

this William Onyeabor album from the mid-80s http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/426365-01.htm was discussed elsewhere on ILM (and it was just re-released) , but as you might tell form the cover, it's got synths a-plenty for ya.

can we revive this thread & make it pop off? I'm digging for more in the vein of this excellent mix: https://soundcloud.com/fadermedia/dj-gioumannes-afro-cosmic-club/s-9tnmy
William Onyeabor has his own thread I know. that stuff is blowing my mind & I saw noisey just dropped a 30 minute documentary on him.
this podcast was kinda cool: https://soundcloud.com/afropop-worldwide/afro-tech
awesome tapes from Africa is obviously an amazing resource for this stuff. that Ata Kak tape linked above really is the best thing ever:
