The Edge of Gloryhole (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 3 June 2011 14:47 (thirteen years ago)

how is this even a question

just sayin, Friday, 3 June 2011 14:48 (thirteen years ago)

i mean hung up is all time

just sayin, Friday, 3 June 2011 14:49 (thirteen years ago)

It is, but "Sorry" is a monster too, and I love the Let It Will Be-Forbidden Love-Jump sequence.

The Edge of Gloryhole (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 3 June 2011 14:49 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, I want to vote for Sorry or Jump just for variety but really…

We need to talk about Bevan (DL), Friday, 3 June 2011 14:50 (thirteen years ago)

should've left "hung up" off to make it interesting! if that had been the case it would've been between "let it will be" (JUST! WATCH! ME! BURN!) and "jump" (MY SISTERS AND ME~)

the smoke cloud of pure hatred (lex pretend), Friday, 3 June 2011 14:50 (thirteen years ago)

No votes for Isaac surely.

We need to talk about Bevan (DL), Friday, 3 June 2011 14:51 (thirteen years ago)

the man with guitar mix of "sorry" (iirc this was JLC's original version of the song?) is so much better than the album version that the latter doesn't exist to me.

the "push" beat is quite incredible, too.

"forbidden love" always annoyed me because...like, did you forget you already called one of your songs "forbidden love" a decade earlier, madonna? and that the first "forbidden love" was much better?

the smoke cloud of pure hatred (lex pretend), Friday, 3 June 2011 14:52 (thirteen years ago)

But I don't think of this album as having songs! It is just one long suite of gorgeousness where one thing flows into another seamlessly.

Karen D. Tregaskin, Friday, 3 June 2011 14:53 (thirteen years ago)

i associate "like it or not" with being mugged btw (it was not a successful mugging, i was so annoyed at the mugger interrupting madonna that i just yelled at him until he ran away)

The Brainwasher, Friday, 3 June 2011 14:54 (thirteen years ago)

(no but seriously, "hung up" ... duh)

The Brainwasher, Friday, 3 June 2011 14:55 (thirteen years ago)

In fact, I can't even go and look up which bit is which because the only way Spodify will feed it to me is as one long continuous mix.

Karen D. Tregaskin, Friday, 3 June 2011 14:55 (thirteen years ago)

i refuse to click on a glee version of any of these songs :o

I did all of that on purpose, [...] I mean, if I'm going to plagiarize somebody, it might as well be me, right? I feel like I've earned the right to rip myself off. 'Talent borrows, genius steals,' [...] "Let's see how many other clichés I can throw in there. That's exactly it. I was only hinting early on, but then I tell it like it is. It's like, now that I have your attention, I have a few things to tell you."

The Edge of Gloryhole (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 3 June 2011 14:55 (thirteen years ago)

This is the album on which she finally learns how to use her newly trained pipes (i.e. when her new stretching notes thing became less irritating).

The Edge of Gloryhole (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 3 June 2011 14:56 (thirteen years ago)

Throwing a vote to "Get Together."

his mix of "Get Together" is great as well:

The Brainwasher, Friday, 3 June 2011 14:57 (thirteen years ago)

I think the one I loved most at the time was "Forbidden Love" ha but I don't have a problem with self plagiarism, not at all, nope.

Karen D. Tregaskin, Friday, 3 June 2011 15:25 (thirteen years ago)

at least half of these are fantastic and yes, "Hung Up" is a MONSTER but i'm going w/ "Sorry"

i genuinely thought when i first joined that he was the admin (ilxor), Friday, 3 June 2011 15:27 (thirteen years ago)

There's only one song I skip on this album, and that's "I Love NY" because it's just a lyrical clanger too far and a poorly executed glam descend.

Karen D. Tregaskin, Friday, 3 June 2011 15:35 (thirteen years ago)

I don't have a problem with her making another "Forbidden Love". It is a different song and it is great. I like it better than the first one. My second favorite on this after "Get Together".

LeRooLeRoo, Friday, 3 June 2011 16:26 (thirteen years ago)

oh good! We might have some variety in the results.

The Edge of Gloryhole (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 3 June 2011 16:29 (thirteen years ago)

"Hung Up" is incredible, but I'm still going for "Sorry" which is even better.

unskinny blap (edwardo), Friday, 3 June 2011 17:21 (thirteen years ago)

(also I prefer "Isaac" to "Get Together" so nerr)

unskinny blap (edwardo), Friday, 3 June 2011 17:21 (thirteen years ago)

"Get Together" is the one.

Tim F, Friday, 3 June 2011 17:43 (thirteen years ago)

I could vote for pretty much any song on this record except for "Isaac" on any day, but I went with "Get Together" since it's my favorite most days.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 3 June 2011 20:03 (thirteen years ago)

gah i always forget the alarm clock at the start of "get together", HATE it. just made me jump out of my skin :(

the smoke cloud of pure hatred (lex pretend), Friday, 3 June 2011 20:58 (thirteen years ago)

Gotta vote for "Hung Up", but "Get Together" would be my second choice.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Friday, 3 June 2011 21:50 (thirteen years ago)

Cosign on the Let It Will Be -> Forbidden Love -> Jump segue

Feel like voting for Isaac just to be perverse because it reminds me of Ray of Light hippie dippie shit.

Karen D. Tregaskin, Friday, 3 June 2011 21:51 (thirteen years ago)

"Push" sounds like good Britney.

The Edge of Gloryhole (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 3 June 2011 21:56 (thirteen years ago)

"Get Together". And please get your shit together Madonna and release something at least half-decent soon.

Surprised "Jump" had no takers.

LeRooLeRoo, Thursday, 9 June 2011 23:17 (thirteen years ago)

Didn't see this until now, but Hung Up is the best record she has ever made.

er
Ugh, no freaking way. I like this album but I don't know why her fans treat this like it's some of her best work. That either goes to Erotica or Like A Prayer.

Tired of these edcuated basic bitches. (lilsoulbrother), Friday, 10 June 2011 00:19 (thirteen years ago)

i'm not sure if i'd place it that high but i'll take it over anything between 'live to tell' and 'like a prayer' and anything post bedtime stories minus 'beautiful stranger', 'don't tell me', and 'sorry' maybe.

balls, Friday, 10 June 2011 00:24 (thirteen years ago)

are you omitting the Erotica era on purpose?

The Edge of Gloryhole (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 10 June 2011 00:27 (thirteen years ago)

i go erotica>like a prayer, madonna>>like a virgin, bedtime stories>>>confessions>ray of light>true blue>>music>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>american life>whatever that last one was called. erotica's just barely first but it has 'bad girl' and it has 'deeper and deeper' so it'll always be first for me.

balls, Friday, 10 June 2011 00:47 (thirteen years ago)

I think American Life is massively underrated tbh

Yes, a lot of it is wholly ridiculous, but that is a large part of what makes it so fun to me

low-rent black gangster nicknamed Bootsy (DJP), Friday, 10 June 2011 15:58 (thirteen years ago)

also, it has "X-Static Process" which is one of her best songs
