I don't keep this shit

metally ill (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 3 June 2011 21:42 (fourteen years ago)

you voted for Critical Beatdown even though you think Kool Keith can't rap?!

metally ill (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 3 June 2011 21:43 (fourteen years ago)

Read my comment in the poll thread: I don't hate Kool Keith, I just think Ced Gee (who does half of the raps on the album, you know) has a better flow. And I love the beats on CB.

Bummed that I missed most of the final 10 countdown and post-poll chatter. I went on a canoe trip instead, still not sure which would have been more fun. In hindsight, I would have Slick Rick and Me Against The World somewhere in there, and probably changed the order of some others, but oh well. Like I don't really think BlaQKout is top 50 material (yet, but maybe over time), but thought some folks might throw a vote its way, so I included it.

Bummed about Too $hort too, fell victim to vote splitting. Shoulda gone with Life Is... then he would have cracked the top 100. I really just have way more love for 92-96 era $hort over his earlier work. The sound on those is just too good to neglect, Get In Where You Fit In & Cocktails especially, Ant Banks in top form.
