the music commentariat are being undermined by nonaligned music lovers who are prepapred to offer their opinions for free on popular microblogging webisites such as twitter
however, thanks to the amount of things they listen to, critics arguably remain the foremost authority on 'bad' music
itt critics and former critics may list i) an estimate of the number of promos they have granted at least a cursory listen & ii) the worst things they have heard

― Mark G, Monday, 20 June 2011 13:51 (thirteen years ago)
Oh, we both have family up north, and go up there fairly regularly, weekends, etc.
There used to be a Reading Massive around here(ILX), but they have mostly moved off (from ILX and Reading too)...

― scott seward, Monday, 20 June 2011 14:07 (thirteen years ago)
feel kinda bad saying that about book of knots cuz they are all old lifer nyc arty types who mean no harm and everything but i could barely listen to it. maybe it got better after the initial horribleness.
― scott seward, Monday, 20 June 2011 14:08 (thirteen years ago)
I'm guessing someone'll read me the riot act for a couple of these, but these are my 10 Worst So Far for 2011, from "best" to worst. I should maybe listen to Kitten again.

that Grace Potter and the Nocturnals record is one of the worst records I've ever heard. I can't believe anyone would think that shit is any good.
― ebbjunior, Monday, 20 June 2011 21:53 (thirteen years ago)
The worst thing I've heard in several years is Kathleen Hanna and Peaches covering "Dead End Justice" on a tribute-to-the-Runaways compilation that comes out this week. Horrifying.

It was a horrible anti-folk record called Erection by Mike Tyler that was so bad that I quit the magazine I was writing for when they refused to run the review because the PR company would "be upset"

Mike Tyler is a non-academic, post-beat American poet.[1]He first became known during the 1990s poetry revival centered around the Nuyorican Poets Café in New York City.[2] He has been dubbed the “most dangerous poet in America” because he once broke an arm while doing a reading.[3]

The most infamous act of Tyler’s career occurred on Friday November 30, 1992. Dying to read a poem at the Nuyorican Poets Café but with a long line ahead of him, Tyler took his poem outside to 3rd Street. He used the flatbed of a truck for a stage and paced and prowled. He didn’t recite the poem, he exorcised it. He sprung to the top of a wire fence, then dived to the sidewalk landing on his left arm. Which broke at the elbow.[16]

I had never heard of this artist, but just discovered her song that plays over the end credits of Tangled - what a jam! Checked out her 2010 album, which roughly coincided with the movie (so I thought it may have a similar vibe) - yeah, it's... not good. Tried a few tracks from earlier LPs - they're not so hot, either. Was that tune just a one-off??
