Miami Vice Soundtrack (1985

Used to listen to this a lot going to sleep at night when I was in the sixth grade. Never got around to buying MV II.

Something about the nocturnal summer listens makes me think of the Chaka Khan song here, but that's about as much as I want to go influencing the votes.

Except for this: If there was ever a time to anonymously vote for Glenn Frey and feel okay about it, here's your chance.

forgot that 'crockett's theme' isn't on this. i played the fuck out of this as a kid, harassed the dj at the skating rink into playing the miami vice theme (THE LONG VERSION) as often as possible, voting for that.

whoa "vice" is a flashback for sure

i had this record and the (preferable, imo) score album "escape from television." jan hammer's stuff just fits the show's style so well, and is good in its own right

Vice is pretty excellent - been watching a lot of it recently and it stands up well imo, Tubbs' ham acting and the ludicrous alligator running gag notwithstanding. It would really have benefitted from the modern style for longer, overlapping plotlines, but I'll take it as it comes.

For me nothing tops the marriage of music & images for 'In The Air Tonight' in the pilot, so that.

You Belong To The City, it's... it's so moody.

i always thought that russ ballard's 'voices' was on one of the soundtracks but apparently not. i was ready to vote for it.

I'd mash the two MV soundtracks together, the better to preserve the glory of Andy Taylor's "When The Rain Comes Down" and the rare Roxy Music b-side "Lover."

The Edge of Gloryhole (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 5 July 2011 02:03 (thirteen years ago)

Isn't this the kind of thing that refutes the whole Simon Reynolds 'everything went downhill after 1985/Live Aid' theory? Maybe 1984 seals the deal and is kinda cheating but i'd sooner rather have this stuff that 1980-1983. IMO. Maybe I just love massive drum sounds and overly processed guitar solos.

I voted for Chaka Khan, but I do think this part of "You Belong to the City" could find a fit on the I bet you didn't see this coming: OUTROS that make the song better. thread.
