I am not one to spread rumours but I have been reliably informed that James Stinson from seminal Detroit electro group Drexciya has died last night of heart complication.

Drexciya released two albums this year, and three before that. At their best (which was often) Drexciya infused their electronic dance / listening music with an almost mystical afrodelic aura. Drexciya, for some people, was almost a cult. James Stinson: we salute you with new answers.

This is definitely not a hoax.

A sad day indeed.

this is really sad. they really were one of the best groups extant. I hope he did not suffer.

Unbelievable....A great artist has died. Dark times are ahead.

Farewell.

I'm sure he has gone onto a better place where he can be free to be half man/half fish living amidst the creatures of the great depths in a hyperborean castle

RIP

All I can do is add to the sentiments expressed above; Drexciya were my first exposure to electro, and I've yet to find anything that matches them. A truly unique and singular group.

James Stinson was married last year. His second daughter was born three weeks ago. Let's send our condolences to the Underground Resistance HQ.

'Drexciya' set already in process, damn I wish I could stream-live. I can assure you tributes will be made all over London this weekend.
