Deadbeat: Drawn and Quartered

Has anyone else heard this? I admit I'm something of a dilettante when it comes to minimal dub/techno, but this is astonishingly good. It's strongly reminiscent of the final few tracks on the epic Rhythm and Sound compilation, more in its feel and immersiveness than its actual sound (which is notably cleaner and more precise/chiseled than R&S). The production is jaw-dropping in its detail and variety, and the grooves go real, real deep. I would highly recommend this to anyone into Rhythm and Sound, minimal techno, dark ambient--just incredible.

plateau quarter is such a bunch of stoney goodness, love it loud. third quarter is the other that jumped out at me.

i've connected w/ this release way more than his past couple of records

I've got the 2xLP, which frustratingly does NOT include Plateau Quarter (I hate getting shortchanged because of my preference for vinyl, but it happens alllll the time lately: Gatto Fritto, Hyetal, etc, etc)... But the LPs do sound freaking incredible. I don't know his other stuff, so I'll have to investigate.

I haven't really gotten into anything he's done over the past few years but you've convinced me to check this one out, cheers.

Yep, that Morphosis album is really good too. Has a nice organic/analog sound going on that sounds really warm compared with a lot of the colder, digital techno out these days.

Yeah nice album, Plateau Quarter is of the heavens. Guys you should probably check the new Deepchord too, it's called Hash-Bar Loops and has some stunning luminous in the womb stuff on it and I find it friendlier than last year's album which feels cold and somewhat frightening to me. It probably has to do with the constant layering of voices deep in the background.

The board needs a continuous dub-techno thread. Also, I would love to read in depth critical analysis on this type of music, would appreciate links if you have some.

Thanks for the recommendations on Deepchord and Morphosis... I'll check into those. I'd also be very interested in some critical analysis of dub techno (though I think it's potentially a fairly difficult realm to write about in lots of depth). Has anyone heard the new Biosphere?

The new Tobias record "Leaving Over Backwards" is pretty killer; I just picked it up. It's quite rigorous and stiff-collared, but the production is really finely etched and detailed. Immersive but really propulsive at the same time.
