I kind of want to go for white noise just because of the band of that name, but I shall give it more consideration.

I've always liked pink noise but i haven't listened to all these yet.

dave lool (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 17 July 2011 15:50 (fourteen years ago)

wanted to vote for pink but white noise masks & that is an increasingly necessary function

Voted pink as it seems to be slightly more useful. Works fine for masking out most background noise as well.

grey sounds most like the seashore imo so that

dave lool (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 17 July 2011 16:08 (fourteen years ago)

pink is the most pleasant but white noise is more impressively monolithic. I am torn.

tempted to go with brown noise actually

brown noise is nice and bass-heavy if you, say, live above a bar that plays a lot of music of which you can really only hear the bass

max, Sunday, 17 July 2011 19:28 (fourteen years ago)

woah thanking u for that link

Brown note

That linked site (simplynoise) looks great. Need to get some of that to deal with noisy road noise.

Torn between brownian noise and grey noise but I think I'm going to go with brownian noise but shame mains hum wasn't included, TBH.

Karen D. Tregaskin, Monday, 18 July 2011 10:28 (fourteen years ago)

Electric hum, mains hum, or power line hum is an audible oscillation of alternating current at the frequency of the mains electricity, which is usually 50 Hz or 60 Hz, depending on the local power line frequency. The sound often has heavy harmonic content.

harmonic content is looked down upon itt
