WAKE UP SOMEONE HAS A NEW ALBUM COMING OUTi like feist, she's pretty good. still think the best stuff she's done is with Kings of Convenience.

not someone, tyler, feist!

I wonder how curious I'll actually be to hear it. I used to love "Mushaboom", but I heard it the other day for the first time in a while and it sounded lame.

one time I saw her some guy had a "MARRY ME?" sign. she was like, whoa, that's a lot of commitment for not really knowing you
he flipped it around and had "BURRITOS MAYBE?" on the other side
markers + feist reminded me of the burritos line

― tylerw, Friday, 12 August 2011 16:34 (fourteen years ago)
This is fucking gorgeous. The whole sound of the thing is so *warm* and lovely, like it could envelop you totally.
'Graveyards' and 'The Circle Married The Line' are early favourites but nearly all of it sounds great.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 29 September 2011 17:20 (fourteen years ago)
production really brings out all the best qualities in her voice too
― Cosmo Vitelli, Thursday, 29 September 2011 18:22 (fourteen years ago)
Just listened to this - I think its wonderful! Not as pop-oriented as some of the Reminder songs were. But she still retained the other qualities that I really enjoy.

The Undiscovered First is fantastic. It has a wallop to it that I didn't expect from Feist, to be honest.

That was great, thanks.
― Dalai Mixture (James Redd and the Blecchs), Monday, 20 February 2012 01:23 (thirteen years ago)
Interesting time signature- it's in 3 subdivided into three, so I guess it's 9/8
― Dalai Mixture (James Redd and the Blecchs), Monday, 20 February 2012 02:19 (thirteen years ago)
I guess there are some other songs on the album in regular 3/4 and one in 6/8 so this one had to be the way it was to mix things up
― Dalai Mixture (James Redd and the Blecchs), Monday, 20 February 2012 03:07 (thirteen years ago)
it's in 6/8 but each verse clips the last beat from the last measure
― piggyback payoff (NZA), Monday, 20 February 2012 20:38 (thirteen years ago)
also it's freaking gorgeous
Mushaboom and most of Let it Die are lame. However the Reminder is awesome, so is Monarch and what I've heard Metals and this of course...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPP5hSAqReo

I was just thinking "Hmm, I haven't heard from Feist in YEARS!" so I went on spotify to pull up The Reminder and was greeted by this album, which I had completely forgotten even exists.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 6 February 2015 19:10 (ten years ago)
i found it forgettable too. seemed like it removed everything i liked about her in the first place -- maybe purposefully, i don't know...
― tylerw, Friday, 6 February 2015 19:15 (ten years ago)
I wonder if I even listened to this in 2011. I probably did at least once, but playing it now is basically a new experience. Doesn't seem too bad atm.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 6 February 2015 19:20 (ten years ago)

the brief sample of mastodon's "high road" on "a man is not his song" is both lol and amazing
― ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Friday, 28 April 2017 16:40 (eight years ago)
Interesting! I played it through once yesterday and thought it was her most indulgently tuneless set of songs, I'll try again though.
The Mastodon sample just had me thinking an extra tab was open

Metals is her best album (even if the biggest singles are elsewhere), so this is great to hear. And personally I think Blake Mills elevates just about everything he's involved in. So I'm excited for this. I liked these first three songs though need to spend more time with them.

I love the reminder too though I think it loses some momentum with the 1-2 of The Park and The Water. I’ve always felt it was a brilliant album undermined by its sequencing.
