lucky lisp is an underrated mozzer joint imo

notes on camping (Pillbox), Saturday, 23 July 2011 02:43 (thirteen years ago)

doesn't really make this any less impossible tho

notes on camping (Pillbox), Saturday, 23 July 2011 02:52 (thirteen years ago)

I think we polled this.

The Edge of Gloryhole (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 23 July 2011 02:55 (thirteen years ago)

didn't find; poll anew

notes on camping (Pillbox), Saturday, 23 July 2011 02:56 (thirteen years ago)

kinda think its everyday is like sunday vs. hairdresser on fire

the emancipation of distraction (askance johnson), Saturday, 23 July 2011 03:51 (thirteen years ago)

Last time I listened Disappointed made me chuckle- so that.

Hinklepicker, Saturday, 23 July 2011 06:23 (thirteen years ago)

Hairdresser on Fire, just past Suedehead

derrrick, Saturday, 23 July 2011 07:09 (thirteen years ago)

'will never marry' for me, such beautiful pathos for the ears of a sad teenager.

keythhtyek, Sunday, 24 July 2011 04:42 (thirteen years ago)

lol I have a notebook kept when I was sixteen in which I wrote the lyrics for "Will Never Marry."

The Edge of Gloryhole (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 24 July 2011 12:09 (thirteen years ago)

Tempted to go for 'disappointed' solely because when I saw Morrissey play in Brighton in the early 90's he treated us to a comically raised eyebrow when the crowd cheered after the 'this is the last song I will ever sing' bit.

pandemic, Sunday, 24 July 2011 12:15 (thirteen years ago)

man what a buncha good songs

pathos of the unwarranted encore (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Sunday, 24 July 2011 12:19 (thirteen years ago)

truly truly truly

The Edge of Gloryhole (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 24 July 2011 14:10 (thirteen years ago)

"Will Never Marry" is some of La Mozza's best (and of course, underrated) gear. "Disappointed" is still a bloody good joke.

Scritti Eros Poli (King Boy Pato), Sunday, 24 July 2011 15:04 (thirteen years ago)

"Ouija Board..." and "Yes I Am Blind" are the only two songs I consider just okay; the rest is tremendous, maybe my favorite Morrissey album (yes, I regard it as a unit).

The Edge of Gloryhole (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 24 July 2011 15:06 (thirteen years ago)

I think we've done this before too, but I dunno. I voted "The Last of the Famous International Playboys", because it's the one I find myself casually singing the most, particularly "in our lifetimes those who kill..." part; social determinism as a hook!

This too is my favorite Morrissey album.

Euler, Sunday, 24 July 2011 15:08 (thirteen years ago)

Playboys is in my top 3-5 Mozzer solo tracks, and the only one which appears on Bona Drag...making this an easy choice.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 24 July 2011 16:21 (thirteen years ago)

Interesting Drug.

ladies love draculas like children love stray dogs (ENBB), Sunday, 24 July 2011 18:50 (thirteen years ago)

The one that you took.

porkpie cokeheads (Eazy), Sunday, 24 July 2011 18:57 (thirteen years ago)

Tell the truth!

The Edge of Gloryhole (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 24 July 2011 19:05 (thirteen years ago)

not a huge M solo person...but I'd possibly take Suedehead over any Smiths track

iatee, Sunday, 24 July 2011 19:07 (thirteen years ago)

y if I'm truly being honest w myself, I'm really going to have a hard time getting past Suedehead. still..

notes on camping (Pillbox), Sunday, 24 July 2011 19:09 (thirteen years ago)

"Suedehead" is one of those tracks whose mere existence just makes me happy.

The Edge of Gloryhole (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 24 July 2011 19:09 (thirteen years ago)

Everyday Is Like Sunday. In a walk.

(Except this Sunday is not silent and grey as I'm listening to Ravel at Tanglewood.)

Gerald McBoing-Boing, Sunday, 24 July 2011 19:52 (thirteen years ago)

anyone ever hear that Ryan Adams track where he's arguing over whether Suedehead is on Bona Drag or Viva Hate?

piscesx, Sunday, 24 July 2011 19:55 (thirteen years ago)

Disappointed for me.

piscesx, Sunday, 24 July 2011 19:56 (thirteen years ago)

I was going to say Disappointed as I feel like that's the one I like most but my lastfm says Suedehead.

gyac, Sunday, 24 July 2011 20:29 (thirteen years ago)

Suedehead

absolutely better display name (crüt), Sunday, 24 July 2011 20:30 (thirteen years ago)

Voted Interesting Drug. Moz goes baggy. Etched 12", great video.

brotherlovesdub, Sunday, 24 July 2011 20:32 (thirteen years ago)

"Hairdresser on Fire" because of the guitar solo

the tune is space, Sunday, 24 July 2011 20:36 (thirteen years ago)

November Spawned a Monster: one of those songs where he sums up everything he's trying to do in one song (might be his best lyric in fact), madcap song structure, great singing.

Eyeball Kicks, Sunday, 24 July 2011 20:39 (thirteen years ago)

Famous International Playboys was the first Morrissey/Smiths song I ever heard and I will never not love it

Booger T. Jones (sic), Monday, 25 July 2011 00:13 (thirteen years ago)

Bona Drugs is just the best album Morrissey ever sang on

Colin Allstations (PaulTMA), Monday, 25 July 2011 00:27 (thirteen years ago)

LOL time for bed

Colin Allstations (PaulTMA), Monday, 25 July 2011 00:27 (thirteen years ago)

Went for Hairdresser on Fire. Yes I Am Blind would be a close second, maybe his most underrated song.

Kitchen Person, Monday, 25 July 2011 00:31 (thirteen years ago)

Damn this album is end to end burners. Hard to choose. Interesting drug, hairdresser, and international playboys are way up there for me. Picadilly palare is great too.

van ingalls wilder (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 25 July 2011 00:47 (thirteen years ago)

I'm so sorry

SuedeHOOS (James Redd and the Blecchs), Monday, 25 July 2011 00:56 (thirteen years ago)

Guess the last time it was a Morrissey - Viva Hate POLL

SuedeHOOS (James Redd and the Blecchs), Monday, 25 July 2011 00:58 (thirteen years ago)

Voted "yes I am blind". so rough.

am I diversified? (blank), Monday, 25 July 2011 01:14 (thirteen years ago)

Suedehead

EZ Snappin, Monday, 25 July 2011 02:16 (thirteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Sunday, 7 August 2011 23:01 (thirteen years ago)

voted for the one about Norwegian chickens

golf n stuff (Pillbox), Sunday, 7 August 2011 23:40 (thirteen years ago)

ended up voting "Interesting Drug" because the "can you blame us? can you blame us?" moment reaches my heart every damn time, but plenty of other jams were neck and neck here

pathos of the unwarranted encore (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 8 August 2011 00:15 (thirteen years ago)

in the end, I just couldn't get past Suedehead, tho I really wanted to pull for Lucky Lisp. It would have been a rotten old lie.

golf n stuff (Pillbox), Monday, 8 August 2011 00:19 (thirteen years ago)

Actually, the nearest contender ended up being Playboys. Such anthems on this record! These singles were clearly where Moz perfected that particular form.

golf n stuff (Pillbox), Monday, 8 August 2011 00:22 (thirteen years ago)

I polled this! but I can't find it either.

leave me alone, i was only zinging (rip van wanko), Monday, 8 August 2011 01:13 (thirteen years ago)

no comparing of results, then. a damn shame!

golf n stuff (Pillbox), Monday, 8 August 2011 01:16 (thirteen years ago)

you could tally the OPO thread. (in fact I think that might be my thread though I do not remember ever posting as 'loudobbs2nite'. but I'm pretty sure my lead off post was "Yes, I Am Blind")

leave me alone, i was only zinging (rip van wanko), Monday, 8 August 2011 01:31 (thirteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

System, Monday, 8 August 2011 23:01 (thirteen years ago)

hairdresser on fire was robbed

the emancipation of distraction (askance johnson), Monday, 8 August 2011 23:55 (thirteen years ago)

disappointed seems much too high. he knows is lovely and was deserving of at least one vote.

keythhtyek, Tuesday, 9 August 2011 00:26 (thirteen years ago)

twelve years pass...

I gave this a listen yesterday and was horrified to realize that at some point my icloud upload of the original got replaced/matched with the version now on apple music, which I guess has been the standard/reissued version for at least 10 years. First tip off was the extra verse in Picadilly Palare, which actually detracts from the song. Then it crossfaded into November, which also sounded remixed to me. And then the entire thing sounded wrong; I'm pretty positive this version isn't just a remaster, but I think many of the songs were remixed, unless my memory is playing tricks on me. The keyboard part in Last of the Famous sounded different...and everything sounded worse.

I? not I! He! He! HIM! (akm), Thursday, 18 April 2024 17:16 (one year ago)
