lol I have a notebook kept when I was sixteen in which I wrote the lyrics for "Will Never Marry."

Tempted to go for 'disappointed' solely because when I saw Morrissey play in Brighton in the early 90's he treated us to a comically raised eyebrow when the crowd cheered after the 'this is the last song I will ever sing' bit.

"Will Never Marry" is some of La Mozza's best (and of course, underrated) gear. "Disappointed" is still a bloody good joke.

"Ouija Board..." and "Yes I Am Blind" are the only two songs I consider just okay; the rest is tremendous, maybe my favorite Morrissey album (yes, I regard it as a unit).

I think we've done this before too, but I dunno. I voted "The Last of the Famous International Playboys", because it's the one I find myself casually singing the most, particularly "in our lifetimes those who kill..." part; social determinism as a hook!

This too is my favorite Morrissey album.

Playboys is in my top 3-5 Mozzer solo tracks, and the only one which appears on Bona Drag...making this an easy choice.

not a huge M solo person...but I'd possibly take Suedehead over any Smiths track

y if I'm truly being honest w myself, I'm really going to have a hard time getting past Suedehead. still..

"Suedehead" is one of those tracks whose mere existence just makes me happy.

November Spawned a Monster: one of those songs where he sums up everything he's trying to do in one song (might be his best lyric in fact), madcap song structure, great singing.

Famous International Playboys was the first Morrissey/Smiths song I ever heard and I will never not love it

Went for Hairdresser on Fire. Yes I Am Blind would be a close second, maybe his most underrated song.

Damn this album is end to end burners. Hard to choose. Interesting drug, hairdresser, and international playboys are way up there for me. Picadilly palare is great too.

ended up voting "Interesting Drug" because the "can you blame us? can you blame us?" moment reaches my heart every damn time, but plenty of other jams were neck and neck here

in the end, I just couldn't get past Suedehead, tho I really wanted to pull for Lucky Lisp. It would have been a rotten old lie.

Actually, the nearest contender ended up being Playboys. Such anthems on this record! These singles were clearly where Moz perfected that particular form.

disappointed seems much too high. he knows is lovely and was deserving of at least one vote.

I gave this a listen yesterday and was horrified to realize that at some point my icloud upload of the original got replaced/matched with the version now on apple music, which I guess has been the standard/reissued version for at least 10 years. First tip off was the extra verse in Picadilly Palare, which actually detracts from the song. Then it crossfaded into November, which also sounded remixed to me. And then the entire thing sounded wrong; I'm pretty positive this version isn't just a remaster, but I think many of the songs were remixed, unless my memory is playing tricks on me. The keyboard part in Last of the Famous sounded different...and everything sounded worse.
