He hits big with the Eurythmics, he gets known a bit for producing and songwriting and still does a lot of that on albums that inevitably get three stars or so in Rolling Stone from David Fricke. From 1990 or so forward he also spends all his time working on bands that never go anywhere and/or solo albums that nobody cares about and/or guest appearances that cause a shrug. (I'll allow Vegas with Terry Hall as the one exception because it's, well, Terry Hall.) Who the hell is this man blackmailing.

Marcello and Tom have written devastating things about Stewart over the years, even during his Eurythmics stint. He's a fraud in the worst sense.

"Lily Was Here" was massive in the States; it just missed the top ten in the summer of '91 and survived as an easy listening favorite for years. What I remember about, then and now, is how tacky and thwacky the drum machine sounds.

Trading off roles as a musician, music producer, author, entrepreneur, filmmaker and philanthropist, its no surprise that on his sixth release, Dave Stewart recruited Bob Dylan to co-write the LP’s standout track “Worth The Waiting For.”
Stewart himself is no stranger to collaboration. Besides his legendary partnership with Annie Lennox in the genre-bending Eurythmics, the artist has produced and co-written tracks for everyone from Stevie Nicks to Katy Perry. In fact, Stewart was one of the main forces behind Joss Stone’s newest record LP1, co-producing and co-writing the record.
With so many blindingly unique side-projects, it’s easy to overlook Stewart’s personal endeavors that have served as the backbone of his success-laced career that has spanned a staggering three decades. The artist’s latest LP, The Blackbird Diaries (Razor & Tie/Surfdog Records/Weapons of Mass Entertainment), not only showcases Stewart’s classically diverse talent, but also boasts a slew of guest appearances including: Stevie Nicks, Martina McBride, Colbie Caillat and The Secret Sisters.

Jack Nicholson, btw, piscesx. Jack phones Dave, Dave writes a song about the event.
The "Lily was here" thing was interesting.. It was credited to DS solo at first, but everyone wanted to know who was that woman playing the sax. So, she got a credit on re-pressings, and now it's listed more for her than Dave. So, Dave is back to having zero solo hits.

God, and I thought this was the name of his new band. But it explains why he still has a career, I guess:
ICM has signed a deal to rep former Eurythmics leader Dave Stewart. Along with manager Dave Kaplan Management Inc and Surfdog Entertainment, the agency will seek opportunities for Stewart’s Hollywood-based idea factory, Weapons of Mass Entertainment. They will work on Stewart’s initiatives in film, television, music, theater, publications, new media and branding.Though best known for his work as a musician, Stewart is also the creator and an executive producer on the pilot Malibu Country. starring Reba McEntire and Lily Tomlin which was recently picked up by ABC. Stewart also wrote all the songs with Glen Ballard for the stage musical adaptation of Ghost, which opened in London last year and bows on Broadway April 23rd. Earlier this month, Cinedigm signed a deal with Stewart and his company to produce a series of music-driven documentary features, which will be programmed in cinemas across the U.S. He also recently put out the album SuperHeavy, with the band he formed with Mick Jagger. He has also cowritten songs and produced albums for the likes of Katy Perry, Jagger, No Doubt and Bono.Stewart’s written books, created graphic novels (his Zombie Broadway is in development for a feature that will be directed by Jonas Akerlund), and Stewart has directed short films. He also founded a multimedia creative hub along with Paul Allen called The Hospital, and is as just as active on the philanthropic front.

LOL etc. -- Paul Verhoeven on Showgirls:
I asked David Stewart of the Eurythmics, who was our composer for the film, to write the music for the big Vegas shows in a kind of banal way, because I was thinking an American audience seeing a show called "a musical" was probably expecting these numbers to be written by Leonard Bernstein and choreographed by Jerome Robbins. So I didn't do that. I wanted to push the fact that it was all not-so-good stuff. I won't say "shit," but that's what it would be. It was basically over-the-top Vegas. And I'm responsible for a lot of those things.
"Hey can you write something boring and shitty for us?"
"Sure...wait, why?"
"Great, thanks."

He's back! With Nena! As in "99 Luftballons"!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnRLX1yKZm8
And good god the endless PR with this:
Nena recently celebrated 40 years in the world of pop. Internationally renowned for her mega-hit ‘99 Red Balloons’ which conquered the charts around the world between 1983 and 1984, was number one in 15 countries, and sold in excess of 3million copies. Having sold upwards of 25 million records to date, Nena has gone on to be one of the biggest recording artists of all time in her native Germany.Meanwhile in Dave Stewart’s house sometime in 2017….Nena performed a concert in L.A. for Dave Stewart, who has been wanting to meet Nena for a long time. Following the performance, the two arranged a songwriting session for the very next day. Nena turned up at Dave’s house and made a grand entrance shouting “The Krauts are here!” With Dave thinking Nena said “The crowd is here,” he expected the singer had turned up with “27 relatives.” Actually, only five of her “crowd” were relatives: her children and husband, and the rest were The Krauts. First on the agenda was to give them a tour of the house. But, with the number of people, the writing sessions needed to take first priority, so Dave asked all The Krauts, except Nena, to wait at the “nice little café around the corner.” Meanwhile, still in Dave Stewart’s house….Yearlong stories were shortened to minutes. That’s how quickly Nena and Dave shared their stories and memories. They understood each other as if they experienced everything themselves instead of hearing it for the first time. Or like Dave said: “Nena is one of the people you like instantly.” And Nena: “I was so excited to finally meet Dave – during this time we laughed the entire time!” The connection between the two was immediate – and the most important factor for both was humour. They found themselves laughing over multiple topics: success, ups/downs, bonds, splits, drama, luck, and of course: rebellion. Rebellion against the expectations. To rebel for oneself. “Rebel,” yes, that sounds similar. And… wait a minute… that has a ring to it. That’s it: Be my Rebel! From now on there is rebellion in the air and it burns. The lyrics begin to flow, Dave’s guitar roared, Nena’s voice and energy boomed through the recording studio. It’s the perfect mix if you have fun-loving rock Rebels. Nena: “To write ‘Be My Rebel’ with Dave Steward in his living-room, is one of the highlights of my entire music career!” But there is also another room included, which will be one of the once-in-a-lifetime-scenes….And this is how it happened….Fast forward 8 hours, The Krauts were waiting at the front door of Dave’s house. Suddenly, they were all whisked away…..to the bathroom. The missing piece in the chorus was a choir and the small bathroom was an acoustic-wonder. Who knew? Dave held a microphone in the air, and yelled “sing along” and the entire family-crowd aka the Kraut family eternalized themselves into the song. This is how it can go. And this is how it goes. The Rebel-way. The end? No!German TV’s ZDF featured a live performance of Nena and Dave’s ‘Be My Rebel’ as the world premiere in the show “Nichts versaeumt - NENA 40 years on stage,” to celebrate the feeling that the Nena family grew by one member. Afterwards, they both filmed a music video in Hamburg along with the Oscar-nominee and filmmaker Virgil Widrich, who transferred the plot into a mirror world. We then expect there to be calmness in Dave Stewart’s house. For now.
