things i've realized i've forgotten already: george michael's "father figure", some african pop.

(tom, if you'd like, i'm going to try to cajole her into writing about them for a c90 go. i'm not sure if it's gonna work or not.)

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 6 September 2002 14:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Swans between motley crue and guns and roses immediately catches my eye.

suggestions for a fifth disc.

the last track from the first Fushitsusha album (second disc)(3/4). Minutemen- Vietnam, Firehose- things could turn around and something by DB (paris from aida).

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 6 September 2002 14:55 (twenty-three years ago)

also: "in the air tonight" and/or "easy lover" (as suggested by maura.com)

julio: um, no. (i mean...maybe the minutemen, but i'm more likely to pick husker du first.)

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 6 September 2002 15:55 (twenty-three years ago)

toto - africa

simon trife (simon_tr), Friday, 6 September 2002 15:59 (twenty-three years ago)

M Matos (M Matos), Friday, 6 September 2002 15:59 (twenty-three years ago)

8. Madonna – “Borderline”
9. My Bloody Valentine – “You Made Me Realize”

Idea for bootleg: "My Bloody Borderline."

Jody Beth Rosen, Friday, 6 September 2002 16:01 (twenty-three years ago)

"Atomic Dog." "Somebody's Watchin' Me."

Matt C., Friday, 6 September 2002 16:03 (twenty-three years ago)

No Sugarhill AT ALL?!?! No "Wheels of Steel" or "That's the Joint"? You on crack, boy?

M Matos (M Matos), Friday, 6 September 2002 16:05 (twenty-three years ago)

No Oran 'Juice' Jones? No Mary Jane Girls?

Jody Beth Rosen, Friday, 6 September 2002 16:07 (twenty-three years ago)

simon trife (simon_tr), Friday, 6 September 2002 16:08 (twenty-three years ago)

but what?

M Matos (M Matos), Friday, 6 September 2002 16:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Buggles. ABC. Propaganda.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 6 September 2002 17:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Jess- what's wrong with the last track from fushitsusha. what's wrong with guitar rock from japan (the album was released in '89).

I was thinking husker du too: pink turns into blue would be nice.

what abt bailey: aida was released in '80 (once recorded, improv is a song, just a diff kind of song).

don't you like raging full on by firehose?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 6 September 2002 17:24 (twenty-three years ago)

also 'all round the world'? isn't that from Lisa stansfield? I'm sure it is...

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 6 September 2002 17:27 (twenty-three years ago)

R U MADD, Jes(s)?!? Father Figure?!? One of those singles that remind me I never wanna go BACK to the 80s.

nathalie (nathalie), Friday, 6 September 2002 20:21 (twenty-three years ago)

CD 1 Track 6 should be "Little Red Corvette".

That is all.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 6 September 2002 20:24 (twenty-three years ago)

I did this recently, too, only it was two discs. A lot of the same songs, but you've not ABBA nor Talking Heads!!

A.V. Alexandre (Keiko), Friday, 6 September 2002 21:33 (twenty-three years ago)

I believe what should have followed the "but" was "Grandmaster Flash is OLD and rap created before 1988 is SHIT! Am I right?"

Nate Patrin, Friday, 6 September 2002 22:26 (twenty-three years ago)

actually i meant the 'you on crack, boy?' bit

simon trife (simon_tr), Saturday, 7 September 2002 00:06 (twenty-three years ago)

No no no no I accuse people of being mentally disturbed, not on drugs. You big silly.

Nate Patrin, Saturday, 7 September 2002 01:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Some sort of segue between Hüsker Dü's "Pink Turns To Blue" & the Chills' "Pink Frost" is urgent & key.
(also jess in someone-other-than-Gl*nn-McD*nald-liking-Big-Country shockah!)

Ess Kay (esskay), Saturday, 7 September 2002 02:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Fuck off Simon. I've been writing like that since before Patrin was born. (no offense, Nate)

M Matos (M Matos), Saturday, 7 September 2002 13:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I am not offended. I am, however, confused: your writing career started at age 3?

Nate Patrin, Saturday, 7 September 2002 14:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Back on topic: If you got about eight minutes to fill then how about some "Breaker's Revenge" by Arthur Baker?

Nate Patrin, Saturday, 7 September 2002 14:01 (twenty-three years ago)

[exaggeration to make point]

M Matos (M Matos), Saturday, 7 September 2002 14:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Wasn't "Back In Black" from 1979?

Siegbran Hetteson (eofor), Saturday, 7 September 2002 14:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Nope. Bon Scott was still alive then.

And yeah I know it's exaggeration but the mental picture of Matos as a three year-old calling people baseheads is fucking great. Jim Henson's Rockcrit Babies!

Nate Patrin, Saturday, 7 September 2002 15:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Couldn't you fit more than 10 songs on one CD? 15 would be good.

A Nairn (moretap), Saturday, 7 September 2002 16:31 (twenty-three years ago)

four months pass...
i still need to make the last three. what a shitty boyfriend.

jess (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 30 January 2003 20:05 (twenty-two years ago)

just a note, i can't reall yfigure what you liked most about the 80s looking at your list. I mean, Neubauten AND Janet Jackson?

g (graysonlane), Thursday, 30 January 2003 21:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Surely that's the point.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 30 January 2003 21:09 (twenty-two years ago)

for me it just doesn;t "capture what [he] liked most" ...

g (graysonlane), Thursday, 30 January 2003 21:10 (twenty-two years ago)
