Just noticed that there's a Sleeper "Greatest Hits." What other bands have Greatest Hits based on three or fewer actual albums? Two? One? Not even one album? "Real" Greatest Hits, not ironic ones...

He may have put albums out since, but he had a best-of out when booh 1&2 were his only albums.

Lone Justice-two albums, two best-ofs (the first comp had a bunch of unreleased stuff on it, IIRC)

He released several records between those two...

Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Arrested Development both had Greatest Hits comps based on two albums (both feature most of their first albums, plus a few songs from the second).
― Tuomas, Friday, 19 August 2011 19:38 (fourteen years ago)
Much as I love Belly, the fact they released two albums and an eighteen-track compilation does seem a bit ridiculous to me. It doesn't even feature all their best b-sides!

Yea wtf at putting Meat Loaf on this, BOOH wasn't even his debut album, if you count Stoney and Meat Loaf. Plus he five albums and 14 singles between the BOOHs (granted most of the singles only charted in the UK)

how's about this one; Electribe 101. not just a compilation *based* on one album, but the exact *same* album and artwork as the debut, repackaged as a Best Of in 2002.
― piscesx, Saturday, 20 August 2011 20:49 (fourteen years ago)
Equally as bad: "Best of Young MC", which has the exact same roster of songs as his debut, MINUS three tracks.
― Spectrist, Saturday, 20 August 2011 21:02 (fourteen years ago)
haha amazing.
― piscesx, Saturday, 20 August 2011 21:17 (fourteen years ago)
Didn't Salt-n-Pepa have a Greatest Hits record as their second album? More albums followed after that of course...
Also: the Vengaboys.

Flowered Up have a Best Of that is just their one album with Weekender thrown on the end.
There is a best of Republica who only had two albums and three hit singles.

Bang Records issued The Best Of Van Morrison.... in 1969!
A bit premature, I'd say. If it's not already bad enough releasing a best-of comp after only two albums, this one didn't include *anything* from Astral Weeks!
I've seen about about 5 different multi-disc compilations from Richard & Mimi Farina, whose entire official output consists of two albums.
― Lee547 (Lee626), Sunday, 21 August 2011 13:20 (fourteen years ago)
Well, Van famously screwed Bang over pre-Astral Weeks, recording 3 albums worth of improvised scat singing tracks to fulfill his contract.

The Very Best of the Stone Roses?
― Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 21 August 2011 15:24 (fourteen years ago)
Actually, "The Very Best Of The Stone Roses" contains nothing from their second album. It consists of the biggest hit from the debut, plus every single a- and b-side they released between 1985 and 1990.
― Hongroe (Geir Hongro), Sunday, 21 August 2011 15:28 (fourteen years ago)
Biggest hitS from the debut, of course.

K.O.T.O didn't release an album until they were way over the hill, so this collection of a handful of 80s singles was actually their first album.
