Today i am going to buy their album. L is making me buy it, i'm EXTREMELY DUBIOUS about this band. i am imagining some horrible halfway point between Badly Drawn Boy and The La's. if this is true, there is no way i'm going to survive such an experience. BUT, maybe i'm wrong????? i'll let you know when i've played it...

Dont do it. It's not very good. Except for "for you"...thats a great tune

Michael Bourke, Saturday, 7 September 2002 10:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, 'For You' is very good, but the rest sounds like Kingmaker.

DavidM (DavidM), Saturday, 7 September 2002 11:23 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't like them very much, which is a great disappointment because I really, really liked that little run of records Johnny Dangerously made in the late '80s / early '90s (You, Me & the Alarm Clock; Introducing Jane; Football Town).

Tim (Tim), Saturday, 7 September 2002 12:58 (twenty-three years ago)

I saw them live a year ago and based on that (rather good) experience got their album - it's actually not that bad but not as great as they were live. But "Twist", "To You" and "Sunlight Hits The Snow" are rather great, actually. It's nothing like the goofiness of Badly Drawn Boy luckily, but the overall atmosphere is a bit hard to stomach at times.

eleven months pass...
The 2nd album is released next week, but I just dl'ed it from soulseek. Anyone else heard it yet?

Initial impression: much better than the first (and I was actually fond of the first).

Andrew Frye (paul cox), Wednesday, 10 September 2003 03:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got it. I think its pretty damn good. Its a lot less mellow than the first one.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 10 September 2003 10:54 (twenty-two years ago)

four years pass...

My band is up against this lot tonight. As in, we're playing one tent, they're playing the other one, for an hour, at exactly the same time.

Do we have a prayer?

THEY'RE STILL GOING?????

Noodle Vague, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 15:52 (seventeen years ago)

hahahahahahahahaha

I've only really heard bad things about them to be fair. Rootsy dullness. As opposed to what we're playing, of course. ;)

"ForTo You" was a really great tune.

I actually saw these play the Adelphi. I can't remember a note. I think somebody persuaded me to go.

Noodle Vague, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 15:58 (seventeen years ago)

I can say I think they sounded like what I imagine the Stands and shit like that sounds like.

Noodle Vague, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 15:59 (seventeen years ago)

Fuck me there should be a ban on Merseybeat albums or something.

Noodle Vague, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 16:00 (seventeen years ago)

Siegbran, doyen of the most savage musics coming out of Scandinavia, seems to be of the opinion that these guys rock the house. Noodle Vague, connoisseur of the most brutal purveyors of English prog, has them among the dullards. Which I Am Kloot will turn up tonight? The raring, sleek rock-machine? Or the past-it chancers getting paid shitloads to amuse a load of wankered students for an hour?

Next week: Louis' band supports Senser.

Fucking horrible. I bet the dude gets really angry any time anybody mentions the Arctic Monkeys, like.

We're playing again on Friday at a different ball, except that one we're headlining :-/

Come to the ILX festival on Sunday, jgo!

Dr.C, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 16:14 (seventeen years ago)

I'd love to (really) but aside from May Week madness and finding some time for the lovely slightly older lady I've been courting these past two months, I'm being visited by parents in order to take stuff back to London before graduation. There's an outside chance I could go back with 'em and drop in on y'all but that's all it is, I'm afraid. One week later and I'd have been there for certain.

The bass player from I Am Kloot was in a school punk band with a couple of my friends. He got kicked out for using fast-fret.
