Dream Boyband/Girlgroup Lineup

Spinning off from another boyband thread, who would be Heaven's perfect boyband and girlgroup? Singers not out of keeping with the concept (obviously we have other people writing and playing and producing everything, like a proper boyband), even if they never went near this type of thing, and preferably offering a good range.

My thoughts, male: Al Green, Curtis Mayfield, Otis Redding, James Carr, Isaac Hayes. I regret leaving out Levi Stubbs, but what would he do that Otis and James don't? And I considered Smokey and Aaron Neville for the high, sweet, Curtis role. I'll have Holland-Dozier-Holland writing the songs, and they can produce the faster ones - Willie Mitchell gets the ballads. The house band takes the Hi house band and adds Steve Cropper and Isaac Hayes.

That's a very, very stylistically consistent outfit. Another thought might lead to Jimmy Cliff, Scott Walker, Roy Orbison, Al Green and Johnny Cash. (As above, I'd like to put Jarvis Cocker in, but Scott Walker fits better.) I guess I might get Spector or Brian Wilson to produce.

Female: the tight, soulful version had Aretha Franklin, Irma Thomas, Etta James, Big Mama Thornton and Darlene Love. The broader version has Darlene Love still, plus Dolly Parton, Ronnie Spector, Tammy Wynette and Cyndi Lauper. I confess that few possibilities suggest themselves to me for the women - I have far more favourite male singers.
