a different lifetime was one of my favourite albums of last year. i'm not into concept albums at all, but if they have such wonderful songs as "julie christie" and "scottish pop" (man, that's the story of my life!), i surrender.

seven months pass...
have decided this is the best non-dance record of the century so far.
f- everything else. i really liked the first one, as anyone with
any sense did, but as the good man says upthread only chris roberts
went mad for 'a different lifetime' and it's a *scandal* i tell you.
it's *such* a tuneful record, so fantastically melodious and not at
all as 'wet' or 'weedy' as you might imagine or led to believe.
i literally can't understand how it hasn't been hailed, here on this
board especially, as an absolute classic of it's type.
'but it's a concept'!!!
well f- me if 'sgt pepper' and 'ziggy' and 'what's going on' and about a 1000 others are concepts too and it doesn't stop their genius.
this is a record where your favourite track changes daily for
a fortnight and it can be bought for 4.99 in the remainder bin
of the spring virgin records sale.
