"So Haunted," one of my favorite singles of the last few years, and one of the few songs on an album dominated by pastel atmospherics.

a 'catch-all', almost humorous, 'Jeez' quality (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 1 September 2011 01:23 (fourteen years ago)

side one totally overshadows side two. probably going to vote for "Lights & Music."

Bee OK, Thursday, 1 September 2011 01:24 (fourteen years ago)

great album

"far away"

teledyldonix, Thursday, 1 September 2011 01:51 (fourteen years ago)

voted 'nobody lost, nobody found', more cuz second half is overlooked too much. could've voted 'hearts on fire', which has a maximalism that feels designed specifically for me (to me at least). love the whole thing. severely disappointed w/ the new one (too much emphasis on "songs", so not the point of this band imo), somehow that new metronomy (which i'm nearly as crazy about as i was crazy about this 3 summers ago) almost feels more like the followup i was dreaming of than zonoscope or whatever. both albums get at a sort of 'cool tension' i associate w/ summer that most trad 'summer song' type stuff doesn't really even aim for i think. or maybe i just associate summer w/ new wave. they're coming to town soon so eventually i'll get around to giving the new one another chance.

Probably voting Lights & Music but that might be because the (amazing) Boys Noize remix is mingled in with my opinion of the original.

Far Away here too. Great album. This will always be their best album. They'll never top it.

brotherlovesdub, Thursday, 1 September 2011 03:06 (fourteen years ago)

I also went for Far Away as it has possibly my favourite chorus of the last few years. So Haunted would be a close second.

Kitchen Person, Thursday, 1 September 2011 03:58 (fourteen years ago)

voted Strangers in the Wind mostly for that dreamy intro

Cosmo Vitelli, Thursday, 1 September 2011 04:05 (fourteen years ago)

SO HAUNTED 4EVER

billstevejim, Thursday, 1 September 2011 05:14 (fourteen years ago)

one of the best songs of the 2000's

billstevejim, Thursday, 1 September 2011 05:15 (fourteen years ago)

voted for Far Away, which will always be the moment for me when Cut Copy went from "wow, these guys got a whole lot better since their first album" to "wow, there's a very real chance that these guys are the best band on the planet".

not even close imo

ciderpress, Thursday, 1 September 2011 05:21 (fourteen years ago)

xxpost So Haunted is quite great but completely obviated by the Knightlife mix:

never got into this enough to remember any song titles beyond the singles

'hearts on fire' although 'lights & music' is right behind it

love the new one tho

D-40, Thursday, 1 September 2011 06:23 (fourteen years ago)

Fantastic album, 'Far Away' wins by a margin.

zeus, Thursday, 1 September 2011 08:42 (fourteen years ago)

Close one between 'So Haunted' & 'Out There On The Ice' for me with the latter edging it purely for its last minute or two.

groovypanda, Thursday, 1 September 2011 09:21 (fourteen years ago)

There was a time I listened to this album a couple of times a day for, like, a month.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 1 September 2011 13:33 (fourteen years ago)

i voted 'feel the love' #1 in my 05-09 tracks ballot so that

johnny crunch, Thursday, 1 September 2011 13:58 (fourteen years ago)

i found this interesting from Wiki:

The album was produced in New York by Tim Goldsworthy, although the band's US label Interscope initially suggested they work with Timbaland.[4]

Bee OK, Saturday, 3 September 2011 00:57 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, Timbaland working with indie types doesn't seem to work out

Number None, Saturday, 3 September 2011 00:58 (fourteen years ago)

Where would that suggestion come from? Can you imagine trying to turn "Lights And Music" into a OneRepublic song?

Anyway I love this album and asking me to choose between the standouts is just too hard, maybe "Hearts On Fire" edges it because of all the fun I've ever had dancing to it in otherwise-terrible student discos.

i never was a huge fan of "lights & music"

balls, Tuesday, 6 September 2011 03:13 (fourteen years ago)

So Haunted has the creepiest lyrics. Borederline stalker anthem.

The Sunspots In Your Eyes Are Actually Cataracts, Mr. Rudich (AWALL), Tuesday, 6 September 2011 16:52 (fourteen years ago)

LIGHTS AND MUSIC.

"I know its hard to hear but I'm a Realest." (rennavate), Tuesday, 6 September 2011 19:24 (fourteen years ago)
